Sabrina Carpenter Announces Man’s Best Friend Album

Grammy winner Sabrina Carpenter unveils her seventh studio album set for August release, following her chart-topping Short n’ Sweet and hit single Manchild

Sabrina Carpenter, the Grammy-winning pop sensation, has officially announced her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, set to drop on August 29, 2025, via Island Records. The announcement came on June 11 during an Instagram Live session where Carpenter shared the album’s bold and provocative cover art, featuring herself on all fours in a striking black dress, with a man gripping a fistful of her blonde hair—an image that immediately sparked conversation and showcased the album’s daring tone.

The lead single, “Manchild,” released on June 5, has already made waves, soaring to the top of Spotify’s U.S. and Global charts and racking up nearly two million streams in consecutive days. Co-written and produced alongside frequent collaborators Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen, the country-tinged track delivers a cheeky, playful critique of immature men, with Carpenter singing lines like, “Manchild, why you always come a-running to me? / F–k my life, won’t you let an innocent woman be?” The song’s clever tone, combined with its chaotic, cinematic music video directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, earned it Consequence’s Song of the Week accolade, praising Carpenter’s vocals and the songwriting trio’s chemistry.

“It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll, and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer!” Carpenter said upon the single’s release. “Hence why I wanted to give it to you now — so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!” The single’s live debut happened just two days after its release when Carpenter headlined the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, marking a high point in a summer packed with performances.

Man’s Best Friend arrives less than a year after Carpenter’s breakthrough album, Short n’ Sweet, released in August 2024. That album catapulted the Pennsylvania-born artist to new heights, spawning hit singles like “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste.” Notably, Short n’ Sweet became her first album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200, where it held the top spot for four weeks. The singles also achieved massive streaming success, with all three entering Spotify’s coveted Billions Club. “Please Please Please” even hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Carpenter’s first chart-topping single.

Her success was further validated at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where she earned six nominations as a first-time nominee and took home two prestigious awards: Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso.” Earlier that year, she also appeared on the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special, performing “Homeward Bound” alongside Paul Simon, cementing her status as a rising star.

Carpenter’s creative process for Man’s Best Friend was inspired by life’s recent twists and turns. In an email to fans, she revealed that although she hadn’t planned to release a new record so soon, inspiration struck hard. “I tried not to overthink the process this time,” she wrote. “I felt so at ease making Man’s Best Friend that I felt like it was a gift that shouldn’t be taken for granted as every inch came together so effortlessly, where I’d bang my head to crack numerous codes. This one felt like riding a bike!”

She also shared that while working on the album, she immersed herself in the music of some of her favorite artists growing up, including Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton, and Donna Summer. Earlier this year, Carpenter had collaborated with 79-year-old Dolly Parton on a rework of “Please Please Please,” highlighting the mutual respect and creative synergy between the two artists.

The album will feature 12 tracks, though the full tracklist has yet to be revealed. Pre-orders are already underway, with a special picture disc available that showcases a Jacob Rochester painting depicting Carpenter with a man at her feet—another nod to the album’s bold aesthetic.

As for live performances, Carpenter’s summer and fall schedule is packed. Following her Primavera Sound set, she will take the stage at London’s Hyde Park for two nights on July 5 and 6, then hit Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 3, and Austin City Limits on October 4 and 11. In the autumn, she will embark on the next leg of her Short n’ Sweet tour, including major arena dates across North America.

The tour kicks off on October 23 in Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena and includes multiple nights at iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden in New York, where she will perform five shows, and the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the tour will conclude with six performances ending November 23. Fans can expect support from rising artists Olivia Dean, Amber Mark, and Ravyn Lenae during the North American leg.

Carpenter’s rise has not been without personal challenges. In December 2024, she publicly parted ways with actor Barry Keoghan after a brief break earlier that year. Despite the turbulence, Carpenter’s focus on her music and storytelling remains unwavering.

With Man’s Best Friend, Sabrina Carpenter continues to evolve her sound and artistic persona, blending playful lyricism with mature themes and a confident edge. As she put it herself, “Can’t say that is or will be the norm for me but this time it really eased my mind about putting something out when it feels right! I am endlessly grateful to you who is reading this for your trust in me, and I can’t wait to share these stories with you!”

August 29 can’t come soon enough for fans eager to experience the next chapter in Carpenter’s compelling musical journey.
