Ruth Langsford has recently opened up about her thoughts on aging and the possibility of undergoing cosmetic surgery, following her separation from Eamonn Holmes. The popular television presenter announced their split after nearly 14 years of marriage earlier this May, and it's clear the life change has brought her to reflect on how she feels about herself.
Known for co-hosting the morning program This Morning, the couple formally shared their lives on television and had one son, Jack, born in 2002. Since parting ways, Ruth has made guest appearances on Loose Women and has been seen enjoying nights out with friends, including fellow celebrities like Vanessa Feltz, Linda Robson, and Rylan Clark.
Speaking with woman&home, the 64-year-old revealed her willingness to contemplate plastic surgery due to some negative comments she encountered on social media. "A man put on a social media post recently, 'Ruth's really looking her age these days.' I had a little jolt and thought, 'What, because I've got a few lines? I'm nearly 65. What am I supposed to look like?'" she shared, indicating how external perceptions have impacted her self-image.
Ruth also noted, "Sometimes I'll take a selfie and I'll look at myself and go, 'That looks terrible. I'm not postingthat.' There's a vanity there. Listen, every time I see myself on camera, I think, 'I'd like to get my neck done.' It's all I see. Something about your neck suddenly goes, and it's really ageing." Such candid revelations reflect her struggle with the inevitable process of aging, particularly under the scrutiny of the public eye.
After the split, Ruth took some time off, contemplating her life before Eamonn publicly declared his new relationship with dating counselor Katie Alexander, who is 43 years old. Yet, her time away from the screen did not deter her from making glitzy outings with her TV friends.
Discussing her potential for surgery, Ruth stated she would refrain from injectables or fillers but hinted at considering either a neck lift or chin lift. "By the time I'm 68, I might not be able to stand it any more," she confessed, which captures the anxiety many people feel about aging gracefully.
Ruth's marriage to Eamonn, which began on the This Morning set back in 2006, came to be perceived as one of the strongest partnerships on British television. Their relationship reached its conclusion when their representative confirmed the couple's divorce, stating, "They have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing, but they are determined to stay friends and keep things amicable."
Adding to her transformation after the divorce, Ruth revealed, "I have lost weight. Divorce obviously has something to do with it but I also went for a hormone check and rebalance, which helped. It could also hopefully meanthat I'm coming to the end of menopause." These sentiments not only showcase her physical changes but also suggest her desire for overall well-being during this transitional phase of life.
Ruth Langsford's openness about her thoughts on aesthetics and the natural effect of aging encapsulates the pressures faced by public figures, especially women. Her honesty resonates with many who strive to reconcile the expectations of societal standards against the reality of growing older.
