Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Rozgar Mela, distributing more than 71,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth within government departments and organizations during a virtual event. This initiative emphasizes the government's commitment to generate employment and empower India's youth with opportunities to contribute to the nation's progress.
Joining the Prime Minister virtually from the Border Security Force (BSF) Frontier HQ, Patgaon, Guwahati, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, ceremonially handed out appointment letters to 335 successful candidates. These recruits have found positions within key sectors, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and various banks like State Bank of India (SBI) and Canara Bank.
During the event, PM Modi expressed his delight, noting the pleasant coincidence of holding the first program with Indian youth after returning from Kuwait where he had engaged with professionals and young people. He remarked, "Today marks a new beginning for thousands of youth in the country. Your years of dreams have come true, and years of hard work have paid off."
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's dedication to maximizing India's youthful potential through initiatives such as the Rozgar Mela. "Over the past 10 years, there has been a concerted effort to provide government jobs across various ministries and departments. Today, more than 71,000 youth have been handed their appointment letters," he stated, highlighting the rise of permanent government jobs offered, with around 10 lakh newly created positions over the last year alone.
Modi noted India's ambition to become a developed nation by 2047, with policies focusing on empowering youth, stating, "The development of our nation relies on the hard work, capability, and leadership of its youth." The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the youth-centered initiatives such as Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Digital India, which have placed young people at the forefront of national development.
With India now being the world's fifth-largest economy and third-largest startup ecosystem, Modi expressed pride at the confidence young Indians exhibit today as they pursue entrepreneurial ventures and advanced careers. "Young entrepreneurs launching startups today benefit from a strong support system," he added, emphasizing the transformation occurring across India's various sectors.
Discussing educational reforms, Modi noted the National Education Policy (NEP) is steering India toward modern education, encouraging innovation and addressing language barriers for marginalized communities. The NEP enables recruitment exams to be conducted in 13 languages and allows learning opportunities for rural youth via their mother tongue.
"Today, over 50,000 youth received appointment letters for the Central Armed Police Forces, marking another substantial achievement," Modi conveyed. He acknowledged the significance of this day, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, celebrating it as Farmers' Day. He pledged the government's continuous support for rural development through initiatives like Gobar-Dhan Yojana and e-NAM, which aim to generate jobs and facilitate market access for farmers.
"Today, thousands of women have received appointment letters, and their success will inspire others. The government is committed to making women self-reliant across all sectors," emphasized Modi. He highlighted various government schemes, including maternity leave provisions and loans available to women entrepreneurs under the Mudra Yojana as key support systems to advance women's empowerment and improve social equity.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal echoed Modi's sentiments, stating, "Under the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, we are building a nation with a vision to become Atmanirbhar and Viksit by 2047." He encouraged the newly appointed youth to engage wholeheartedly with their roles and contribute actively to nation-building.
Sonowal asserted, "This appointment adds power to this historic initiative as the youth's commitment is integral to India’s development." He reflected on the significant changes initiated since 2014, contrasting it with prior administrations and asserting the current government's dedication to meritocracy and efficient governance.
This event is part of broader government initiatives aimed at facilitating job creation and promoting self-employment, ensuring substantial contributions from India's vast pool of young talent. The Prime Minister's call for commitment and dedication serves as both motivation and expectation for the new appointees as they step forward on their professional journeys.
The Rozgar Mela not only seeks to address unemployment but aims to weave the narrative of India's growth and transformation as the nation strides toward its goal of becoming 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, underpinning the importance of every young citizen's role within this vision.
