The 2025 Romanian Language National Program is set to launch, promising free language courses to over 6,500 participants starting this March. The initiative aims to provide individuals from minority communities and adults the opportunity to learn and improve their Romanian language skills.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), these courses will be offered both online and physically, accommodating various participants' needs. The program is organized through collaboration between three notable universities: Universitatea de Stat „Alecu Russo” din Bălți, Universitatea de Stat din Chișinău, and Universitatea de Stat din Comrat, alongside three NGOs: ANTEM, Casa Limbii Române „Nichita Stănescu,” and ProDidactica.
The initiative follows the successful rollout of the program's previous editions, which saw 6,500 participants enrolled in 2023, with the number rising impressively to 10,000 students in 2024. This growth reflects the increasing demand for Romanian language education among various demographic groups.
Participants will have the option to rent printed textbooks at affordable prices, enhancing their learning experience and resource availability. Upon completing the courses, students will receive certificates confirming their language proficiency, aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
This comprehensive program is backed by the state budget, with total funding reaching 30 million lei allocated for the 2023-2025 period. Ministerul Educației și Cercetării emphasizes the necessity of such programs to meet diverse linguistic demands.
“Cursurile se desfășoară atât cu prezență fizică, cât și online, pentru a răspunde cerințelor diferitor categorii de participanți,” stated the MEC, underlining the program's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
Overall, the 2025 Romanian Language National Program is poised to make significant strides, autonomously meeting the linguistic needs of Romania's minority populations. With structured courses, dedicated organizations, and substantial governmental support, the initiative embodies education as a powerful tool for integration and cultural exchange.
For those interested, the program reflects not only linguistic development but is also pivotal for fostering stronger community ties and enhancing interaction across various societal segments. The lessons will undoubtedly set the groundwork for future educational successes and personal growth among its participants.
