Romanian Hospitals Announce Extensive Medical Staffing Vacancies

Multiple healthcare institutions across Romania open diverse medical and support roles this June, targeting both debutants and experienced professionals to strengthen patient care services.

Healthcare facilities across Romania are actively recruiting a diverse range of medical and support staff this June, reflecting ongoing efforts to bolster healthcare services amid evolving patient needs. From Botoșani County Hospital’s urgent care wards to the specialized rehabilitation services in Techirghiol, and the emergency services in Târgu-Cărbunești, multiple institutions have announced job openings targeting both seasoned professionals and fresh graduates.

On June 12, 2025, Botoșani County Hospital publicized ten vacancies spanning several critical departments. The hospital seeks six infirmiers for specialized sections including Anesthesia Intensive Care, Internal Medicine 1, General Surgery, Hematology, and Psychiatry units catering to both chronic and acute cases. In addition, there is a caretaker position available in the Neonatology Section and two stretcher-bearer roles. Notably, the hospital also invites applications for a debutant general medical assistant with a post-secondary license (PL) for the Gastroenterology Compartment within Internal Medicine II.

These positions require candidates to have at least general education, with no prior work experience necessary for the infirmier, caretaker, and stretcher-bearer roles. The debutant medical assistant post demands post-secondary studies and current membership certification with the Order of Nurses, Midwives and Medical Assistants of Romania (OAMGMAMR), alongside a valid annual authorization to practice. Deadline for applications for infirmiers, caretakers, and stretcher-bearers is June 26, 2025, while the medical assistant role closes a day earlier on June 25.

Meanwhile, Târgu-Cărbunești Emergency Hospital in Gorj County announced on June 11, 2025, seven vacant general medical assistant debutant posts. These are distributed across the radiology and medical imaging laboratory, pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, ENT offices, Logrești Health Center, and the general surgery department which offers two positions. The hospital targets candidates who have completed post-secondary sanitary education or hold higher education degrees in general medical assistance and possess a current annual practice authorization.

Unlike Botoșani, Târgu-Cărbunești requires an application fee of 100 lei, payable at the hospital’s cashier. The application window runs from June 11 to June 24, 2025, with submissions accepted until 3:00 PM on the final day. Candidates will face a written exam scheduled for July 2, 2025, followed by an interview on July 7. The hospital provides the exam syllabus and bibliography at its official notice board and website, ensuring applicants can prepare adequately.

Further south, the Techirghiol Balneal and Rehabilitation Sanatorium revealed on June 12, 2025, a comprehensive recruitment drive for multiple temporary contractual positions. The first batch includes posts for two general medical assistants with post-secondary licenses specializing in general medicine, a principal medical assistant specializing in balneophysiotherapy and medical recovery, two physiokinetotherapists, a kinetotherapist, a medical statistician, a bath attendant, a caretaker, and a qualified waiter. These roles have contract end dates ranging from November 2025 to May 2027, underscoring the institution’s medium-term staffing plans.

Applications for these first-round vacancies are open until June 19, 2025, with selection of applications occurring on June 20. The written exam is slated for June 27, and interviews will take place on July 3. Final results will be announced on July 7.

The sanatorium’s second recruitment phase targets debutants and includes posts for a balneophysiotherapy medical assistant, infirmary nurse, stretcher-bearer, two bath attendants, a medical registrar, kinetotherapist, debutant physiokinetotherapist, physiokinetotherapist, caretaker, and an unqualified worker. This round accepts applications until June 26, with the same initial selection date as the first phase. Written exams and interviews for this batch are scheduled for July 3 and July 9, respectively, with final results released on July 14.

Each position at Techirghiol demands specific qualifications. Medical assistants must hold diplomas from post-secondary sanitary schools or equivalent certifications, maintain current membership with OAMGMAMR, and possess valid annual practice authorizations and liability insurance. The principal medical assistant role requires an additional five years of experience and success in a principal grade exam. Physiokinetotherapists and kinetotherapists must have relevant licenses and at least six months of experience. Support roles such as bath attendants and caretakers require general education, with no experience needed for some positions.

These recruitment efforts across diverse Romanian healthcare institutions highlight a broader national trend to refresh and expand medical and support staff. They also reflect the sector’s need to integrate newly qualified professionals alongside experienced practitioners, ensuring continuity and quality of care.

For candidates, these announcements represent valuable opportunities to enter or advance within Romania’s healthcare system. They also emphasize the importance of maintaining proper certifications and readiness to engage in competitive selection processes, including written and oral examinations.

As the deadlines approach, hospitals and sanatoriums are preparing to evaluate candidates rigorously, balancing the need for fresh talent with the demand for qualified and reliable staff. This wave of hiring not only addresses immediate staffing shortages but also sets the stage for enhanced patient care and operational efficiency in the months and years ahead.
