Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Recalls Bear Incident From 2014

The independent presidential candidate reflects on his unusual bear adventure and its political impacts

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Recalls Bear Incident From 2014

Wilmington, Delaware - Step aside for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the independent presidential candidate who’s not just aiming for the White House but also stirring up memories from years past. Recently, he turned the spotlight back on himself as he reminisced about one of his more bizarre escapades—a tale from 2014 involving, of all things, a bear.

According to Kennedy, he had quite the adventure on the day he retrieved the carcass of a bear killed by a motorist. After the accident, he decided to take the dead bear to New York City's Central Park, where he staged it to look like it had been hit by a bicycle. This anecdote unfolded during a social media video he shared with actress Roseanne Barr, where Kennedy explained the wild story behind the stunt. You wouldn’t believe it if you heard it!

"I was heading to falconry with some friends when I saw the bear get hit by this woman driving her van," he said during their conversation. Originally, he intended to skin the bear and use its meat. But as fate would have it, after enjoying dinner at the famed Peter Luger Steak House, he found himself with the bear's body and no plan for disposal. He humorously suggested putting it in Central Park and claiming it had been hit by a bicycle, thinking it would be quite the amusing prank.

Little did he know, this prank led to quite the stir! The following day, the bear was discovered by two dog-walkers who alerted authorities, triggering an unusual investigation. Because bears aren’t exactly native to the park’s wildlife, this mystery captivated the city for days. Photo evidence from the incident even showed Kennedy with his fingers inside the bear’s mouth, grinning like he was sharing the craziest secret ever.

Despite Kennedy’s playful recounting of the event, the investigation found the bear likely died from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. State wildlife officials confirmed the bear was not harmed due to any foul play. New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation wrapped up its inquiry after forensic analysis showed no illegal activity had occurred related to the incident.

But has this story really faded? Not so fast! Kennedy is currently engulfed in the political fray as he vies for the presidency. His candidacy has split opinions within his own family, drawing concerns from both Republican and Democratic parties about the influence he may have on the electoral outcome.

Interestingly, Kennedy has been shifting perceptions about himself lately. He even acknowledged having dealt with brain issues from parasites. Yes, he boldly clarified to a buzzing audience on Vanity Fair about another photo of him holding what appeared to be charred meat, stating, "I didn’t eat the dog; it was only goat meat." It seems he is making headlines left and right—mostly through unexpected stories and unapologetic remarks.

Still shaken by his Central Park bear incident, Kennedy joked about his fingerprints being "all over" the crime scene, showing he hasn’t lost his quirky humor. He expressed mixed emotions about the potential backlash from the article by The New Yorker, which digs deep and might not cast him in the best light.

Just as the bear's story resurfaces, concerns also lurk over his qualifications for appearing on various ballots across the U.S. A recent court case tested his legitimacy on New York’s presidential ballot, with claims circulating about him not being truthful on his nomination papers. Talk about adding fuel to the fire!

Interestingly, recent polls found Kennedy capturing about 8 percent of voter support among potential candidates. Not outstanding, but enough to make some waves as the election approaches on November 5. While his campaign may seem like a curiosity act, it resonates with voters questioning mainstream political narratives.

This isn’t the first time Kennedy’s antics found him the center of attention over something odd. Whether it’s outrageous statements or bizarre stunts, he has proven to be the wild card of this election season. All of this leaves many pondering what’s next from this intriguing figure. With Kennedy, one can expect the unexpected. Who knows, maybe the bear will come back to haunt him, or at least give the headlines something new to munch on!
