Remembering Sandra Klasner And Melvin Blanton

A community mourns the loss of two beloved figures who touched many lives in Montana.

In a poignant day for families in Montana, both Sandra J. Klasner and Melvin L. Blanton passed away on March 14, 2025, marking the end of remarkable lives that touched many. Sandra, aged 81, of Stockett, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, while Melvin, aged 76, was at Park Place Health Care Center in Great Falls at the time of his passing.

Sandra J. (Lindsay) Klasner was born on December 22, 1943, to James and Nellie (Millet) Lindsay. Raised in a loving environment, she graduated from Centerville High School in 1962. That same year, she wed her high school sweetheart, Robert Klasner, beginning a partnership that would thrive for over five decades. Family was everything to Sandra; she dedicated herself to her children and grandchildren, embodying the timeless belief that a mother’s work is never done.

“Our hearts are broken but also grateful for our time with her,” reflects her family as they mourn her loss. Sandra is survived by her daughter Lori and sons Thomas and Todd (Lanni), along with grandsons Keegan and Christian, and great-grandchildren Clayton, Macey, and Ryker. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Marsha Kovack and numerous nieces and nephews who shared cherished moments with her.

Her passing leaves a profound void as she had embraced her role with unwavering love and support, guiding her family through the ups and downs of life. Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, her parents, and sister and brother-in-law Marlene and Bill Shull, along with her nephew Casey Guisti. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date, allowing only close family to remember and celebrate her life.

Meanwhile, Melvin L. Blanton’s story is one of valor and dedication. He was born on June 30, 1948, in Astoria, Oregon, and dedicated 26 and a half years of his life to serving in the United States Army as a Medic, contributing significantly to his country. His family remembers him fondly, noting his love for outdoor activities. Melvin greatly enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening, finding peace and joy in nature.

“Melvin’s passion for football and the outdoors was infectious,” shared his daughter, Susanne Russo. “He always encouraged us to make the most of our time outside.” His legacy continues through the connections he made and the lives he impacted. Melvin is survived by his wife Monika Blanton, daughter Susanne, son-in-law Isaac Baumgartner, and sisters Edith Miller and Denna Hayman. His three grandchildren, Terrence McCoy, Lucas McCoy, and Marie Baumgartner, will carry forward his spirit into the next generation.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and brother Andy Blanton, with whom he shared many fond memories. Graveside honors for Melvin will also be organized at a later date as the family grieves the loss of their beloved patriarch.

The simultaneous passing of Sandra Klasner and Melvin Blanton on the same day serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring impact of love and kindness. While both will be missed dearly, their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of their families and friends who remember them with love.
