Remembering the Lives of Lorraine Clark Elwood and Lorraine Victoria Fettes
Two remarkable women, Lorraine Clark Elwood and Lorraine Victoria Fettes, recently passed away, leaving behind rich legacies filled with love and community ties.
Lorraine Clark Elwood, aged 96, died on December 20, 2024, surrounded by family and friends, marking the end of a life replete with cherished memories. Born on November 8, 1928, to Jesse and Grover Clark, Lorraine grew up with a sense of adventure alongside her siblings, particularly her twin sister, Priscilla. The Clark family initially lived across Southern Vermont before settling near Hillsboro, NH, where they embraced community life.
After completing her education at Hillsboro High School, Lorraine's life took a significant turn when she met Quentin Elwood, the love of her life. They married on July 31, 1948, and together, ventured to his family farm in Londonderry, NH, where they cultivated apples on what would become the Orchard View Farms. Lorraine not only contributed to the farm's labor but also raised four children: Linda Fiske, Sharon Meir, Quentin Elwood Jr., and Janet St. Jean. Through the years, she demonstrated her unwavering support for her family and maintained close ties with friends and neighbors.
Lorraine's interests extended far beyond farming; she was passionate about gardening, canning, yard work, reading, and sewing. After many decades of labor on the orchard, Lorraine and Quentin enjoyed retirement and the simplicity of life, as they deepened their connections with family and friends. Sadly, Quentin passed away in 1994, leaving Lorraine to carry on the family legacy with great strength.
Throughout her life, Lorraine became renowned not just for her commitment to family but also for the warmth she spread within her community. Her passing saw her surrounded by love from family and caregivers, especially during her last years at the Inn at Deerfield, where she resided due to declining health. Lorraine's life was completed by her title as grandmother to nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom held her dear.
A funeral service for Lorraine Clark Elwood is set for December 27, 2024, at the Davis Funeral Home, with interment following at the Edgewood Cemetery, ensuring she will be laid to rest surrounded by those she loved.
