Remember Monday Prepares For Eurovision 2025 In Switzerland

The UK representatives film their postcard ahead of the Grand Final in Basel.

The United Kingdom's representatives for Eurovision 2025, Remember Monday, have arrived in Switzerland to film their postcard. The filming of the postcards continues, with the United Kingdom being the next country to travel to Switzerland to record the short clip that will be shown during the live shows in May. In recent weeks, artists from the 37 participating countries have been visiting the host country to film the postcards, which will be shown shortly before each performance on the Eurovision 2025 stage. Now it’s Remember Monday’s turn to film their own postcard, and they took the chance to post a photo in the snowy landscape of Zermatt in southern Switzerland. They also quoted that next time they’ll visit the country, it will be for Eurovision!

Postcards have been used in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1970. Over the years, the postcard has evolved from being used to advertise the host country to being able to introduce more elements about the participants. For the first time since 2019, all postcards will be filmed entirely in the host country. In the past five years, artists have appeared in locations in the host country through editing, in parts of their homeland, or alongside iconic past entries from their country. Remember Monday will take part directly in the Grand Final of Eurovision 2025 on May 17th with the song “What the Hell Just Happened.” Stay tuned on Eurovisionfun for all the news regarding the British participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, in Basel!

Remember Monday is not just any girl band; they are a country-pop trio from Surrey composed of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele. Their name originates from their music classes, which were always scheduled on Mondays. They formed while studying together at Sixth Form College Farnborough and have a solid foundation in musical theater, with performances in West End productions such as Hull in Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera, Steele in Mary Poppins, and Byrne in Matilda and SIX The Musical.

In 2019, Remember Monday competed in the eighth season of The Voice UK, where they made a significant impression by passing the Blind Auditions with their rendition of Seal's "Kiss From A Rose." Mentored by American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson, they advanced to the Battle rounds but unfortunately ended their journey on the Live Knockouts with their original song, "Jailbreaker." Despite this setback, their talent did not go unnoticed, as they were invited to perform on The Jennifer Hudson Show afterward.

On social media, Remember Monday has also made waves, boasting over 540,000 followers and 11.5 million likes on TikTok as of March 29, 2025. Their viral melodies and acapella covers of a wide variety of songs from artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Queen, and Shania Twain have garnered them a dedicated fanbase. They have become known for their catchy hooks and engaging performances.

Their Eurovision entry, "What the Hell Just Happened?" is an upbeat pop track that captures the aftermath of a fun night out with friends. Written by the band in collaboration with Tom Hollings, Sam Brennan, Thomas Stengaard, and Julie Aagaard, the song showcases their humor, relatability, and signature harmonies. Mark Savage, BBC's music correspondent, described the song as a collaboration between ABBA and Sam Ryder, suggesting it has the potential to be a crowd-pleaser. He stated, "With every corner they turn, the band finds another hook, with the soaring chorus serving as a particular highlight."

Neil McCormick, chief music critic for The Telegraph, called the song "a breathless pop pastiche of imperial period Queen with a dash of Elton John singing country with the Andrews Sisters," adding that they "deserve more than nul points." Meanwhile, Roisin O'Connor from The Independent likened the song to a "drunken one-night stand between Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell and Chappell Roan’s 'Pink Pony Club'," emphasizing the group's endearing, tongue-in-cheek tone.

Remember Monday confirmed their bid for Eurovision on March 7, 2025, during an appearance on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2. As a member of the Big Five, the United Kingdom is pre-qualified for the Grand Final of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place on May 17, 2025, in Basel.

The United Kingdom has a storied history with Eurovision, having participated in every edition since 1957, except for 1958 and 2020. It has won the contest five times, with memorable entries such as Sandie Shaw's "Puppet on a String" in 1967 and Katrina and the Waves' "Love Shine A Light" in 1997. Despite this illustrious history, the UK has faced challenges in recent years, finishing last in 2003 and 2021, and achieving disappointing placements with its recent entries, including 25th out of 26 finalists in 2023 and 18th in 2024.

As Remember Monday prepares for their Eurovision debut, they hope to uplift the UK's recent standings in the competition. With their infectious energy and engaging performances, they aim to capture the hearts of both the audience and the judges on the Eurovision stage. As fans eagerly await the Grand Final in May, Remember Monday stands ready to represent the Union Jack and make their mark on Eurovision history.
