Regional Leaders Meet With Copel To Address Energy Concerns

A collaborative effort seeks strategic investments to improve energy supply and reliability across the region.

A significant meeting took place on February 25, 2025, at the headquarters of Copel, where regional leaders convened with Copel’s president, Daniel Slaviero, to address the pressing issues surrounding electricity supply and quality.

The event saw the participation of Marechal Cândido Rondon's mayor, Adriano Backes, along with municipal secretaries and members of the Cooperativa de Eletrificação e Desenvolvimento Econômico (Cercar). Notably, state deputy Hussein Bakri, and the mayors of Toledo and Medianeira, Mario Costenaro and Antônio França, also attended, showcasing the wider regional support for the initiative.

The core agenda of the discussions revolved around necessary strategic investments aimed at alleviating frequent energy disruptions and fluctuations impacting local businesses and households. It was stressed how improving energy reliability is fundamental for the economic growth of the region and for attracting new investments.

The mayors collectively emphasized the significance of enhancing energy availability, echoing the voice of the community which has long been plagued by electricity supply concerns. This meeting also touched on the collaborative efforts spurred by Porto União, which historically has faced numerous energy reliability problems, especially within its industrial district.

The mayor of Porto União, Juliano Hassan, remarked on the importance of the collaborative approach, stating, "Today is a historic day for Porto União da Vitória. We are gathered with Copel and Celesc to solve the electricity distribution issue. I want to express immense gratitude to Governor Jorginho Mello and Paraná Governor Ratinho Junior for addressing our demand and resolving this issue, which has been dragging on for more than a decade." His words captured the sense of urgency and hope surrounding these discussions.

Adding to the regional dialogue, discussions indicated Celesc’s involvement, announcing plans to invest approximately R$ 60 million aimed at nearly eliminating energy interruptions for Porto União. The commitment highlights the substantial infrastructural improvements necessary to support not only the residents but also the burgeoning local industries.

During the meeting, participants voiced their aspirations for the partnership between Copel and Celesc to yield significant improvements for local inhabitants and business operators. The notion of synergy among energy distributors aims to maximize the effectiveness of the proposed investment— paving the way for enhanced efficiency and reliability.

It is anticipated these advancements will be pivotal for fostering economic opportunities, significantly contributing to the local economy, and ensuring the energy supply keeps pace with the growing demands of the community and industry.

Overall, the meeting on February 25 marked not only the acknowledgment of persistent energy challenges but also set the stage for actionable solutions aimed at restoring confidence among citizens and business leaders alike. The commitment to significantly improve energy distribution serves as both necessity and promise for the future economic prosperity of the region.

Through unified efforts from local government, energy companies, and indispensable state support, the residents of Marechal Cândido Rondon and neighboring areas look forward to more dependable energy solutions, fostering growth and improved quality of life.
