Regina Welcomes Fun-Filled Weekend Events

Regina is buzzing with excitement this weekend, welcoming residents and visitors alike to engage in various vibrant activities across the city. With delightful events planned, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

On Saturday, Victoria Park will transform during the I Love Regina Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festivities kick off with participants taking part in runs or walks of three, five, or ten kilometers, starting at 8:30 a.m. on Cornwall Street.

This lively event promises not only physical activity but also fun activities including free barbeque, face painting, and bouncy castles, setting the tone for community spirit. Live entertainment will keep the atmosphere festive throughout the day.

The Back 2 School Bash will take place at The Landing at Grasslands from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring superhero meets, games, and performances. Attendees are encouraged to bring school supplies for those less fortunate; entry donations will enter them for raffle prizes.

Over at Wascana Place and Lady Slipper Courthouse, the Market and CommuniTEA event will host live music alongside vendors and food trucks from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. This eco-friendly gathering encourages attendees to contribute with CommuniTEA passes, benefiting Carmichael Outreach.

Meanwhile, Nature Regina will celebrate 30 years of gardening with its picnic at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, running from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can enjoy garden tours, bird walks, and refreshments like bannock and watermelon, but they are asked to bring their own chairs.

Later on, at 1:30 p.m., Government House will bring history to life with interactive performances of “Not Who, But Watt!” This immersive storytelling will allow guests to step back to 1910 through the eyes of the Scottish-born landscaper George Watt.

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Zone 7 Square and Round Dance Association will showcase square dancing at the Victoria Square Shopping Centre. This demonstration will not only entertain but also teach onlookers some basic dancing moves.

Families can wind down as McNaughton Park hosts the Free Movie in the Park at 7:45 p.m., featuring Trolls Band Together. Pre-show activities start at 7:45 p.m., and the film will screen at 8:15 p.m., fostering community fun under the stars.

Meanwhile, the Local Connections Expo will invite locals to the Caledonian Curling Club from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The expo features local vendors and ends with a family fun zone for participants, with entry set at $5.

Sunday is highlighted by the final Picnic on Willow Island of the summer, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This picnic invites families for free ferry rides to the island, where they can enjoy lunch outdoors.

Adding to the weekend’s cinema offerings, the Moonlight Movies Drive-In at Pilot Butte features Despicable Me 4 and Twisters on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Movie-goers can enjoy two screenings for $10 for adults and $5 for kids, or $30 for carloads, making for an entertaining evening.

Regina’s schedule this weekend offers something for everyone, from athletic events and cultural demonstrations to cinema under the stars. Residents are encouraged to explore the various activities and make the most out of their time in the Queen City.
