Saskatchewan RCMP are investigating the unsettling discovery of four bodies following what is being described as a quadruple homicide on the Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation. The incident, which has shocked the local community, occurred on February 4 at approximately 11:15 a.m. when officers responded to reports of sudden deaths at a residence located about 85 kilometers east of Regina.
Upon arrival, the file hills First Nations Police Service found the four deceased individuals inside the home. While police have not released the identities of the deceased, they confirmed the suspicious nature of the deaths. "This is an unraveling investigation and we are unable to provide more details about the deceased persons at this time," RCMP spokesperson stated. "We will do so once we are able to, and we’ve confirmed next of kin notifications are complete." The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has also been engaged to continue the investigation.

Chief Scott Eashappie took to Facebook to update community members, saying, "To our Nation and community members, I’m sorry I have to announce this way. We have had a break and enter in one of our homes last night. We ask everyone to please stay clear as there has been a homicide on the north side of the reserve." Reports of the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Keagan Panipekeesick, described him as being 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds. Authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with the suspect if encountered.
“We will provide updates on this investigation as soon as we are able,” RCMP announced, adding there would be increased police presence across Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation and surrounding areas.
