Colege Station, Texas – Razorback Paityn Noe made her mark at the SEC Indoor Championships by shattering multiple records en route to clinching victory in the 5,000 meters with an impressive time of 15 minutes, 11.27 seconds. Noe's stunning performance not only earned her first place but also contributed significantly to the Arkansas women's team which currently leads the event with 32 points against rivals such as Oklahoma (31), LSU (19), Texas A&M (13), and Florida (11).
Noe's remarkable feat includes breaking the SEC Indoor meet record of 15:42.45, previously set by teammate Sydney Thorvaldson, alongside obliterated the long-standing Arkansas school record of 15:13.09 held by Katie Izzo since 2019. Impressively, she finished 22 seconds faster than her closest competitor, Auburn’s Brenda Jepchirchir, who clocked 15:33.67. Noe's time ranks her as the seventh fastest performer on the collegiate all-time list, making waves within the track and field community.
Her stellar performance was complemented by contributions from her teammates; Funminiyi Olajide and Nia Robinson secured second and third place finishes respectively in the long jump, amassing 14 additional points for the team. They jumped impressive marks of 21-6 (6.55m) and 21-5.5 (6.54m) respectively, showing the depth and talent of the Razorback athletes.
On the men’s side, Patrick Kiprop secured Arkansas's first victory of the championship by winning the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:37.52. Kiprop, who previously took home the SEC Indoor 5,000-meter title back in 2022, showcased his prowess on the track again as he bested Alabama’s Dismus Lokira and Victor Kiprop. Arkansas entered day one trailing behind Texas A&M, who currently leads the men’s team scoring with 30.5 points.
Arkansas also demonstrated strength through its distance medley relay team, which finished as runners-up with 9:25.85, adding eight points to the team total. This included contributions from active members Reuben Reina, Brandon Battle, Davis Helmerich, and Yaseen Abdalla, showing the team’s unity and competitive spirit.
Uroy Ryan participated actively, bringing two points to the Razorbacks from the long jump, where he managed to leap 25-0 (7.62m), placing him below the competition but reflecting the team’s collective resilience. Meanwhile, Gabriel Emmanuel is leading the heptathlon among Arkansas contenders, marking significant performances early during the event as he amassed 3,287 points.
