Ramón Seijas, Key Automotive Leader, Dies At 53

Ramón Seijas, a prominent figure in the automotive industry in Ourense, Spain, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the age of 53. Seijas, who served as the vice president of Grupo Pérez Rumbao and president of Acauto, succumbed to a heart attack that struck him unexpectedly.

On Saturday night, April 19, 2025, Seijas was admitted to the Centro Médico de El Carmen after experiencing serious health issues believed to be related to a cardiac incident. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived, and news of his passing spread quickly on Easter Sunday.

Born in A Coruña, Seijas was a well-respected entrepreneur who had dedicated his career to the automotive sector. He graduated with a degree in Economics and Business Sciences, which laid the foundation for his extensive career in the family business, Grupo Pérez Rumbao, founded in 1922. The group has been a significant player in the vehicle distribution market in Galicia and the northwest of Spain, representing 18 car brands and three industrial vehicle brands.

Under his leadership, Grupo Pérez Rumbao expanded significantly, now comprising 46 companies and employing around 1,300 people. The company has a turnover exceeding 450 million euros annually, serving over 100,000 customers each year. Seijas was also the manager of Bétula Cars, an Opel distributor based in Ourense.

Seijas's contributions to the automotive industry were not limited to his business roles. He was a passionate advocate for customer service, emphasizing the importance of personalized attention and quality service. His dedication was recognized by many in the industry, and he was seen as a mentor to many aspiring entrepreneurs.

In the wake of his death, the Diputación de Ourense expressed its “deepest condolences” to Seijas's family and friends. The Zona Franca de Vigo and the Popular Party of Ourense also took to social media to share their condolences, highlighting the significant impact Seijas had on the local automotive sector.

The council of San Cibrao remarked that Seijas had always supported the industrial municipality, which houses many of the jobs created by Pérez Rumbao. His passing is considered a severe loss for the automotive industry in the province, as he was a leading figure who contributed greatly to its development.

Seijas leaves behind two daughters, and his legacy will undoubtedly continue to influence the automotive industry in Galicia. His commitment to excellence and dedication to service have set a high standard for future generations in the sector.
