Jakarta is currently the focus of the Muslim fashion industry with the launch of the Ramadan Runway 2025, organized by the Indonesian Fashion Designers & Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI) in collaboration with Kota Kasablanka. This exciting event will run from March 19 to April 13, 2025, at various locations within Kota Kasablanka including the Grand Atrium and Mosaic Walk.
This year, the Ramadan Runway carries the enticing theme "Egyptian Nights," which aims to bring the rich culture and history of Egypt to life. For the past 30 years, APPMI has been dedicated to showcasing Muslim fashion trends annually, particularly during Ramadan, making this event a part of its longstanding journey to promote Islamic fashion in Indonesia.
Poppy Dharsono, Chairperson of APPMI, emphasized the importance of the Ramadan Runway during a meeting on March 21, 2025, explaining that it represents a continuation of APPMI's efforts to popularize Muslim fashion across the nation. "APPMI was founded 30 years ago with a single event focused on Muslim fashion trends, typically held before or during Ramadan. Now, here we are at the 13th installment of the Ramadan Runway. Thank you for your support," she expressed.
The competition is also a platform dedicated to nurturing young design talent, with events such as the Indonesian Young Designer Competition taking place alongside the Indonesian Fashion Week (IFW). This year's competition has attracted hundreds of participants from various regions in Indonesia, showcasing the breadth of talent in the country.
Agun Gunawan, Senior Promotion Manager at Kota Kasablanka, highlighted a special feature of this year’s event: the participation of senior models who haven't walked the runway for a long time. "This year, Kota Kasablanka is co-hosting the Ramadan Runway with APPMI, and we are excited to invite senior models, which will add a unique touch to the event," he said. The event will feature around 60 renowned designers, enriching the fashion showcase.
The "Egyptian Nights" theme is a call to visitors to experience the allure of traditional Egyptian markets known for their exotic offerings and unparalleled fashion culture. Designer Ariy Arka expressed the goal of bringing this unique shopping and fashion experience to Kota Kasablanka. "Middle Eastern-style Eid celebrations are definitely on the theme, and we are exploring various aspects of the Middle East, with Egypt being one of them. We want visitors to enjoy the distinctive market experience right here in Kota Kasablanka,” he explained.
As one of Indonesia's largest Ramadan fashion events, the Ramadan Runway 2025 promises a diverse array of activities including parades, exhibitions, workshops, fundraising pop-up markets, and fashion shows adorned with Egyptian nuances. The grand opening ceremony will feature performances from notable artists such as Vina Panduwinata and a spectacular fashion show by Rose.Ma.Lina.
The show will also celebrate legendary senior models such as Arzeti Bilbina, Keth Agustine Wilson, and Dian Tanjung, who will showcase collections from 60 famous Indonesian designers. This includes talents like Abeba, Erdan, Reny Rofael, Danadu Hriyatna, and many others, reflecting the rich diversity of Indonesia's fashion scene.
In a separate yet equally significant event, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is hosting the BRILiaN Fest Ramadhan 1446 H from March 17 to March 21, 2025, at the BRILiaN Sports Hall in Jakarta from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM WIB. The BRILiaN Fest features 82 participants offering a wide range of products, including household needs, fashion, and cuisine. Notable tenants include Gallery 24 Pegadaian, Electronic City, and Watsons, among others. Several MSMEs supported by BRI, such as Mochi Moki and Lorie Bakery & Cookie, are also taking part.
BRI's Corporate Secretary, Agustya Hendy Bernadi, articulated that the BRILiaN Fest Ramadhan 1446 H is a testament to the bank’s commitment to their employees and loyal customers. “As a form of appreciation to customers, BRILiaN Fest Ramadhan 1446 H will present a total of 82 tenants, all of whom offer various products. Meanwhile, for our staff, we have prepared 2,000 cheap basic food packages and an auction program for electronic products and precious metals,” he detailed.
Additional features of the BRILiaN Fest include exciting promotions such as cashback up to IDR 200,000 for transactions made through the BRImo super app, and a lucky dip program for BRI debit and credit card transactions offering similar cashback rewards. The event will conclude with a compensation program for orphans, reflecting the synergy between BRI, the Baitul Maal BRILiaN Foundation (YBM BRILiaN), and IWABRI.
These events not only showcase the creative talents thriving within Indonesia but also emphasize the communal spirit and togetherness that Ramadan fosters. As the nation gears up for the festive season, both the Ramadan Runway 2025 and the BRILiaN Fest Ramadhan 1446 H stand as celebratory highlights aiming to enrich the experiences of all who participate.
