The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 on April 22, 2025, revealing a remarkable performance by candidates across the country. A total of 1,009 candidates successfully cleared the rigorous examination, which saw participation from 9.9 lakh applicants this year. Among the successful candidates, 25 hailed from Rajasthan, marking a significant achievement for the state.
Leading the pack from Rajasthan was Aditya Vikram Agarwal from Jhunjhunu, who secured an impressive 9th rank. Following him were Trilok Singh and Mamta Dudi from Jodhpur, achieving 20th and 438th ranks respectively. Other notable candidates included Rambharose Saran (276th), Ravindra Khoja (501st), and Utkarsh Yadav (32nd) from Kotputli. The success of these candidates has brought pride to their communities, with many of them overcoming significant challenges to achieve their goals.
In total, the UPSC CSE 2024 results included 180 candidates selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 55 for the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and 147 for the Indian Police Service (IPS). Additionally, the commission recommended 60 candidates for Central Services Group A and 142 for Group B Services.
Contrastingly, Meghalaya faced disappointment as none of its candidates cleared the UPSC CSE 2024. This was confirmed by the Director of the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute. The last candidates from Meghalaya to pass the exam were Isawanda Laloo and Daribha Lyndem in 2012. The state’s recent history has seen a decline in representation, with Swapnil Bhattacharya being the sole candidate to clear the exam in 2023.
In Haryana, the results were more favorable, with 20 candidates achieving success, including Harshita Goyal, who secured the second rank nationally. Goyal, who hails from Hisar, expressed her disbelief at her achievement, attributing her success to hard work and the support of her father, a private sector employee. She dedicated 7 to 8 hours daily to her studies while managing to stay away from distractions like social media.
Aditya Vikram Agarwal, also from Haryana, celebrated his success in his fifth attempt, after previously facing setbacks. He shared his journey, emphasizing the emotional toll of prior failures but remained determined, stating, "I have worked hard, and this is my fifth attempt and third interview. I felt bad when I did not succeed in the last two attempts, but I did not give up." His perseverance has paid off, landing him a top position.
Other notable candidates from Haryana included Shivani Panchal, who achieved the 53rd rank, and Dr. Shreyak Garg, who secured the 35th rank. Garg, a medical graduate, attributed his success to his family’s support and his dedication to self-study.
The UPSC CSE is recognized as one of the toughest examinations in the world, with a significant number of candidates vying for limited positions in civil services. This year, 5,83,213 candidates appeared for the examination, highlighting the competitive nature of the process.
Women candidates have continued to make a strong showing in the UPSC results, with three girls among the top five ranks and eleven in the top 25. This trend reflects a growing empowerment of women in competitive examinations, as seen in previous years where female candidates dominated the top positions.
Shakti Dubey from Prayagraj topped the UPSC CSE 2024, followed closely by Harshita Goyal and Dongre Archit Parag. The results have been lauded for their inclusivity, with 45 candidates with benchmark disabilities also making it to the final list.
