Rain Alerts Issued Across Indonesia For April 14

Residents are warned of potential heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in multiple regions.

Residents of South Sulawesi are being advised to remain vigilant as light to moderate rain is expected across several regions on Monday, April 14, 2025. According to a report released by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Makassar, the weather forecast for the morning indicates partly cloudy skies. However, areas such as Barru, Parepare, and Pinrang are predicted to experience light rain starting in the morning.

As the day progresses, the intensity of the rain is anticipated to increase from noon into the afternoon. The BMKG noted, "There is potential for light to moderate rain in South Sulawesi," in a weather report issued on April 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM WITA. By the evening, most parts of South Sulawesi are expected to continue experiencing light rain, while regions like the Selayar Islands, Parepare, Sidrap, Soppeng, and Wajo are likely to remain cloudy with no rain.

In the early hours of April 14, the sky is expected to be cloudy, but light rain may fall in Barru, Enrekang, Gowa, Makassar, Jeneponto, Takalar, Selayar Islands, Maros, Pangkep, Parepare, Pinrang, Sidrap, and Soppeng. The air temperature is forecasted to range from 20 to 32 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels reaching between 75 and 100 percent. Winds are expected to blow from the west to the north at speeds of 8 to 20 kilometers per hour. No early warnings have been issued for this day.

Meanwhile, in Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), an early warning for potential heavy rain has also been issued for April 14, 2025. The BMKG reports that residents should be prepared for light rain and partly cloudy conditions. In Kota Mataram, the forecast indicates clear skies in the early morning, followed by light rain in the morning, thunderstorms in the afternoon, and cloudy conditions at night, with temperatures ranging from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius. Similarly, in Kabupaten Lombok Barat, the weather is expected to be cloudy in the early morning, partly cloudy in the morning, light rain in the afternoon, and cloudy at night, with temperatures between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius.

On a broader scale, the BMKG has issued an early warning for very heavy rain across several provinces on April 14 and 15, 2025. This includes regions such as Aceh, North Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Nusa Tenggara, and South Papua. The agency highlighted the likelihood of very heavy rain in these areas, urging residents to stay alert.

On April 14, moderate to heavy rain is expected in West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Bengkulu, Lampung, Banten, Bali, and throughout NTB. The same weather patterns are forecasted for the following day, April 15, across various regions, including Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, and Banten.

In Jakarta and its surrounding areas (Jabodetabek), the BMKG has predicted light to moderate rain from April 14 to April 15, 2025. On April 14, moderate rain is forecasted for South Jakarta, Bekasi Regency, Depok City, Bogor Regency, Bogor City, and South Tangerang City. Conversely, light rain is likely in Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta, North Jakarta, the Thousand Islands, Bekasi City, and Tangerang City.
