Quissamã Celebrates 36 Years Of Emancipation

City honors its history with events, community spirit, and new leadership initiatives.

The city of Quissamã is celebrating its 36th anniversary of political-administrative emancipation, marking the occasion with various events throughout the day.

The celebrations kickstarted early Saturday morning with the traditional hoisting of flags at the Prefeitura’s Jardim, complemented by the stirring performances of both the national anthem and the anthem of Quissamã by the esteemed Banda União Quissamaense.

Following this ceremonial moment, Mayor Marcelo Batista, alongside Vice Mayor Sabrine Pereira, officiated the swearing-in of 22 new municipal secretaries at the Prefeitura’s amphitheater. During his address, Mayor Batista expressed confidence and optimism for the future of Quissamã, emphasizing the administration's dedication to fostering continuous development.

“Today is a day of celebrations and reflection on everything we have achieved so far and what we will still accomplish. Quissamã is developing every day, and we are committed to working for improved quality of life, infrastructure, and services for everyone,” Batista remarked.

Vice Mayor Pereira echoed these sentiments, stating, “Today is very important: swearing in the municipal secretaries, who are political agents who, with their team, will deliver the best for our city. New cycles bring new challenges, and we are here to work for the people of Quissamã.”

The president of the City Council, Mazinho Batista, was also present, praising the city’s progress and reiteration the necessity of unity for administrative success. “Success stems from unity. When everyone works together, the city has only to gain,” he affirmed, reinforcing the collaborative spirit necessary for municipal governance.

Former Mayor Fátima Pacheco added her perspective on the importance of transparency and productivity within the local government, noting, “When the team is productive, hardworking, and transparent, it outlines the government to be made.”

The day was set to continue with additional activities, including a mass at the Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora do Desterro, followed by an evening service at the amphitheater. Lastly, festivities will culminate with a performance by local singer Bira Bello at Praça Brigadeiro José Caetano, commencing at 8:30 PM.

This vibrant anniversary not only celebrates the historical growth of Quissamã but also signifies the commitment of its new administration to serve its citizens effectively, fostering hope for continued improvement and unity within the community.
