Gameweek 19 of the Fantasy Football Scout (FFS) Open Cup and Members Cup brings with it exciting updates as the results and draws for the quarter-finals are announced.
These cup competitions are independent of the official Fantasy Premier League (FPL) tournaments, providing their own unique excitement. Notably, there’s £600 worth of prizes up for grabs across both tournaments.
One standout participant, sandgrounder, has successfully made it to the last eight of both the FFS Open Cup and FFS Members Cup. They triumphed over Yanti2 with an impressive score of 82-75 in the FFS Open Cup. Sandgrounder now faces the challenge of competing against the highest-ranked remaining manager, Luggy10, who currently sits at 16,000th overall.
Meanwhile, other hopefuls faced disappointment. Gazza2000 and VNFPL were eliminated by Chaballer and Derbz87, respectively. Gazza2000 was particularly unlucky; after drawing 66-66, they were sent packing due to their lower manager rank.
Captain Sensible writer Hibbo also reached the quarter-finals, winning 70-65 against Leo Tam and continuing their quest for glory.
The FFS Members Cup saw sandgrounder emerge victorious over edison with a score of 82-50. Next, they will compete against Rasping Drive. Unfortunately, VNFPL exited on the tiebreaker following a 61-61 draw with Herger, demonstrating just how close these competitions can be. Werkself, another high-ranking manager, had their run ended by Yanti2 with a narrow 74-75 defeat.
One of the most notable eliminations was former FFS Members Cup champion Mohd Rodzi, whose efforts fell short against Barnsley_fc, losing 55-69.
Curious about how these cup competitions work? The FFS Cup format is similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own knockout matches. Managers who qualify for the first round are randomly drawn against each other. The winner is determined by whoever posts the highest score from the Gameweek, subtracting the points spent on any transfers.
Should there be a tie, the manager with the highest overall FPL ranking at the time of the tie will progress, adding yet another layer of intrigue to the competition.
The Gameweek schedule for both cups has been tentatively outlined, aiming to provide clarity for participating managers. The FFS Open Cup has rounds spaced out through Gameweeks 12 to 21, with the quarter-finals set to occur this Gameweek.
Also noteworthy is the upcoming deadline for the first Wildcard chip of the 2024/25 season, which must be played before the Gameweek 19 deadline. The Wildcard allows managers to make unlimited transfers without penalties, providing them with the opportunity to shake things up.
The Scout has released a 15-man Wildcard squad, costing exactly £100 million, to help managers optimize their teams effectively.
Now, the stakes are higher than ever, with £600 total prize money on the line across the two cups. The prizes are as follows: £150 Amazon voucher for 1st place, £100 Amazon voucher for 2nd place, and £50 Amazon voucher for 3rd place.
With excitement building and managers ready to deploy their strategies, the competitions highlight both the skill and unpredictability of Fantasy Football. May the best managers emerge victorious!
