Qatar has amplified its dedication to sustainable development by officially inaugurATING the Qatar Health Centre, located in the Abobo municipality of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. With financial backing from the country’s Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, this health facility aims to bolster healthcare services and cater to the needs of local Islamic communities.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was marked by the presence of dignitaries, including Mohammed Jabr al-Mannai, director of the Islamic Affairs Department at Awqaf, and Qatar's ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, Mubarak bin Hussein al-Marri. Other notable attendees included Kandia Camara, the President of the Senate of Côte d'Ivoire, and various ministers and ambassadors representing international organizations.
According to Awqaf, the centre's establishment reflects their strategic objective to support health projects globally. Al-Mannai stated, "These projects aim to improve basic services, provide a suitable environment for decent living, and encourage the integration of Muslim communities within their societal frameworks."
The Qatar Health Centre is envisioned as a model for healthcare excellence, equipped with modern specialized clinics catering to both primary and secondary healthcare needs. This facility is expected to not only upgrade health services significantly but also provide treatment to thousands, showcasing the collaborative spirit between Qatar and the global Islamic communities.
On a parallel track, Qatar Charity (QC) has forged a partnership with Mauritania’s Ministry of Vocational Training, Handicrafts and Crafts to empower vulnerable groups through vocational training. The memorandum was executed by Minister Mohamed Maelainine Ould Eyih and QC Mauritania office's director Omer Mohamed Abdelaziz, emphasizing mutual commitment to enhancing the lives of those most disadvantaged.
The initiative intends to provide targeted training, skills rehabilitation, and economic empowerment projects. It aims to support families struggling economically and boost support systems within communities, as highlighted by Minister Eyih, who expressed strong backing for the partnership and underscored its importance for the socioeconomic uplift of Mauritania.
Al-Subaey, QC's General Supervisor in Mauritania, acknowledged the ministry's efforts and reiterated the charity's resolve to meet shared objectives through income-generative projects enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable populations. QR’s long-standing interventions since 1996 have laid the groundwork for numerous projects impacting water, sanitation, healthcare, and beyond.
Together, these initiatives exemplify Qatar’s commitment to international cooperation and development, significantly impacting lives within Islamic communities. From improving healthcare infrastructure through the Qatar Health Centre to facilitating vocational training partnerships, Qatar's philanthropic efforts strive to uplift human development standards and embody the spirit of solidarity.
