DOHA, QATAR: Qatar Airways and the Ministry of Labour have joined forces to boost the skills of Qatari job seekers, particularly focusing on the lucrative logistics sector. This partnership aims to create new job opportunities and cultivate local talent through specialized training initiatives.
The cooperation agreement, signed by Shaikha Abdulrahman Al Badi, Assistant Undersecretary for National Manpower Affairs at the Ministry of Labour, and Mohammed Abdullah Fakhroo, Vice President of Nationalisation and Strategic Relations at Qatar Airways, marks a significant step toward elevulating national capabilities and enhancing employability.
Under this agreement, Qatar Airways Group is set to develop training programs aimed at Qatari nationals and children of Qatari women. These programs are intended to equip participants with professional skills and improve their job readiness for careers within Qatar Airways or the broader aviation industry. Shaikha Abdulrahman Al Badi emphasized the importance of these efforts, noting, "This partnership reinforces our efforts to develop the skills and employability of the national workforce." She remarked on the Ministry's strategic aim to prepare university graduates for success in private sector employment.
Fakhroo articulated Qatar Airways’ dedication to nurturing local talent, stating, "Qatar Airways Group is committed to empowering national talent and providing exceptional professional development opportunities in the aviation sector." He highlighted the airline's initiative to prepare young Qataris through the newly launched High School Graduates Development Programme.
This program is set to offer structured training combined with practical experience, enabling participants to receive guidance from experienced supervisors. It is structured to help Qatari high school graduates and children of Qatari women develop competencies necessary for success in the logistics field.
Designed to meet the demands of the labour market, the High School Graduates Development Programme includes support from international partners and aims to facilitate direct employment opportunities for trainees. The program not only targets skill enhancement but also focuses on career pathways, ensuring the trainees are well-prepared to transition smoothly from education to professional careers.
The initiative aligns with Qatar's Third National Development Strategy, which aims to bolster local workforce participation across various sectors. By focusing on training and professional development, these efforts seek to strengthen Qatar’s human capital and contribute significantly to the nation’s economic growth.
By encouraging job seekers to actively participate and take advantage of these training programs, both the Ministry of Labour and Qatar Airways hope to create a more competitive workforce ready to meet the future needs of the job market. This collaboration exemplifies the type of partnerships necessary to drive progress and innovation within the country.
The agreement between Qatar Airways and the Ministry of Labour stands as a prominent example of dedicated collaboration, fostering mutual growth and empowering Qatari youth. This proactive approach to workforce development signals Qatar's commitment to building a skilled labour force ready for the opportunities of the future.
