Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines have officially launched a codeshare agreement that promises to significantly enhance travel connectivity between Doha and Manila. This new partnership, announced on April 24, 2025, will allow Philippine Airlines to operate daily nonstop flights between the two capitals, starting June 16, 2025.
Under the agreement, Philippine Airlines will run daily flights from Manila (MNL) to Doha (DOH), with Qatar Airways placing its code on these seven weekly flights during the initial phase of the collaboration. The daily service is set to depart Manila at 18:50, arriving in Doha at 23:40, thus providing optimal connections to Qatar Airways’ extensive global network.
Qatar Airways boasts a vast network that spans 170 destinations across Africa, the Americas, Central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Passengers will benefit from seamless transfers through Hamad International Airport (DOH), which was recently voted the World’s Best Airport in the Middle East by Skytrax in 2025.
For travelers heading east, the partnership facilitates smooth connections from Doha to Manila. Passengers arriving in Doha on Qatar Airways flights can transfer easily to Philippine Airlines’ service, which departs Doha at 01:30 and arrives in Manila at 16:15.
Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Airways, emphasized the airline’s commitment to enhancing global connectivity. He stated, “At Qatar Airways, we continue to explore opportunities that strengthen our connectivity across the world, and our latest partnership with Philippine Airlines is a testament to this commitment.”
On the other hand, Captain Stanley K. Ng, President and Chief Operating Officer of Philippine Airlines, expressed enthusiasm for the new alliance. He noted that this strategic partnership would help stimulate tourism, trade flows, and business growth, reinforcing the strong bilateral relationship between the Philippines and Qatar. Captain Ng remarked, “Our decision to offer daily frequency to Doha is enabled by our exciting strategic partnership with Qatar Airways.”
The daily nonstop flights will utilize Philippine Airlines’ long-range Airbus A330-300 aircraft, which is configured with two cabin classes. The aircraft features 18 flat-bed seats in Business Class and 341 seats in Economy Class, ensuring a comfortable travel experience for all passengers.
The flight schedules are as follows:
- Manila (MNL) to Doha (DOH) – Flight PR684: Departure 18:50, Arrival 23:40
- Doha (DOH) to Manila (MNL) – Flight PR685: Departure 01:30, Arrival 16:15
Both airlines are eager to explore expanded collaboration opportunities, including joint promotions of additional destinations within their respective networks and the potential integration of frequent flyer programs, which would enhance travel benefits for passengers.
This new codeshare agreement further enhances Qatar Airways’ already extensive codeshare network, which includes strategic partnerships with major global carriers such as American Airlines, British Airways, Japan Airlines, and Cathay Pacific. Additionally, Qatar Airways maintains codeshare partnerships with regional leaders like Malaysia Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, IndiGo, and LATAM Airlines.
These collaborations enable Qatar Airways to offer expanded route access while maintaining its signature five-star service standards through integrated booking systems and coordinated flight schedules. The airline’s commitment to providing seamless travel options across continents remains a top priority.
As the travel industry continues to rebound, this partnership between Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing connectivity, facilitating smoother travel experiences, and promoting economic growth between the two nations.
