Public Satisfaction Surges For 2025 Lebaran Mudik Arrangements

Indikator Politik Indonesia survey reveals over 90 percent satisfaction among travelers during the homecoming period.

Jakarta – A recent survey conducted by Indikator Politik Indonesia has revealed a significant public satisfaction regarding the 2025 Lebaran homecoming (mudik) experience, with over 90 percent of travelers expressing contentment with the arrangements made. The survey, which took place from April 14 to April 20, 2025, included 1,200 respondents interviewed directly. Utilizing simple random sampling, the survey boasted a margin of error of 2.9 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.

According to the survey results, 81.3 percent of all respondents indicated satisfaction with the implementation of the mudik this year, marking an increase from 73.9 percent in the previous year. Burhanuddin Muhtadi, the Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, stated during a virtual press conference on May 7, 2025, that this uptick in satisfaction is noteworthy. "In 2025, the percentage of satisfied respondents reached 81.3 percent, showing a clear improvement from last year’s 73.9 percent," he explained.

Among those who participated in the mudik, satisfaction levels were even higher, with 92 percent of travelers expressing contentment with the arrangements. "If we specifically ask those who traveled, the satisfaction rate is even higher, reaching around 92 percent, consistent with the patterns we have observed. There has been an increase in satisfaction among both general respondents and those who undertook the mudik this year," Burhanuddin noted.

Burhanuddin elaborated that the higher satisfaction rate among travelers could be attributed to their direct experiences with the various policies implemented by the government and police to manage the mudik flow this year. He suggested that those who did not participate in the mudik may have formed opinions based on potentially biased information from social media or mainstream media, lacking the firsthand experience of the journey.

The survey also provided detailed insights into the levels of satisfaction among different groups. For all respondents, 13.9 percent reported being very satisfied, 67.4 percent were quite satisfied, 6.4 percent were less satisfied, and 1.6 percent were not satisfied. In contrast, among the travelers, 18.9 percent were very satisfied, 73.1 percent were quite satisfied, 6.2 percent were less satisfied, and only 0.5 percent were not satisfied.

In addition to evaluating the mudik, the survey also assessed public appreciation for the performance of traffic police (polantas) during the Lebaran period. The findings indicated that 89.6 percent of respondents felt assisted by the traffic police throughout the mudik. This survey was also conducted from April 14 to April 20, 2025, and followed the same methodology as the mudik satisfaction survey.

The results showed that 82.7 percent of all respondents believed that the performance of the traffic police was helpful during the mudik, while the figure rose to 89.6 percent among those who traveled for mudik. This indicates a strong approval of the police's efforts in managing traffic and ensuring safety during the busy travel period.

Burhanuddin highlighted that the satisfaction with the National Police's performance in securing the mudik was above 90 percent, particularly regarding traffic management. "We found that 80.3 percent of the public, both travelers and non-travelers, were satisfied with the implementation of the National Police's Ketupat Operation during Ramadan and Lebaran," he stated.

The survey also revealed that satisfaction levels regarding traffic management reached 92.3 percent among travelers. Burhanuddin remarked, "When we specifically ask those who traveled, the level of satisfaction with traffic management is quite high, although the percentage of those who reported being very satisfied has decreased slightly compared to last year. Nonetheless, overall satisfaction levels in traffic management remain high for both 2024 and 2025."

The findings from Indikator Politik Indonesia provide a comprehensive overview of public sentiment towards the mudik experience and the role of the traffic police during this critical period. The high levels of satisfaction reflect the effectiveness of the measures taken by authorities to facilitate a safe and efficient travel experience for millions of Indonesians during the Lebaran holiday.

As the Lebaran holiday is a significant time for family reunions in Indonesia, the positive feedback from the public indicates that the government and law enforcement's efforts have made a substantial impact on the overall travel experience. With the data showing an increase in satisfaction compared to previous years, it appears that the preparations and policies implemented for the 2025 mudik have been well-received by the majority of the population.
