PT Semen Indonesia Supports Communities During Ramadan

The company enhances collaboration by distributing food and supplies to local communities in need throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Jakarta - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises collaborated with various state-owned companies (BUMN) to organize the Ramadan Work Assistance program in several regions across Indonesia, which rolled out community support initiatives throughout the holy month. The program kicked off with an environmental cleanup and support for local communities, showcasing genuine social commitment to share benefits during Ramadan.

A standout initiative was led by PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), which hosted the Ramadan Work Assistance program at the Nusantara Satu Kudus Foundation on March 18, 2025, and then on March 20, 2025, at the Minahjul Ibtida Situpundu Islamic Boarding School. This endeavor aimed to unite state-owned enterprises and local communities through mutual cooperation and shared goodwill.

The Ramadan Work Assistance program aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to enhance harmony within communities while promoting cultural and environmental sustainability. SIG is deeply honored to lead the organization of this program, as expressed by Vita Mahreyni, SIG's secretary. “We are privileged to have the mandate to organize the Ramadan Work Assistance program for 2025 so we can closely engage with the community,” she stated. The program serves as a crucial channel for corporate entities to deliver direct impact on the communities they serve.

As part of the program in Central Java, SIG worked alongside students from SMK Assaidiyah 2 Kudus, aiding in cleaning both the school environment and ablution facilities. They also contributed essential items such as prayer mats and ablution equipment to enhance students' comfort during learning and worship. Additionally, SIG distributed food packages to the public as an act of kindness to spread joy in the community.

Meanwhile, at the Islamic boarding school, SIG's contributions included beautifying the facilities through clean-up and painting activities with students, alumni, and management. They also provided food aid, essential items, and educational supplies to orphans, ensuring that those in need received support during Ramadan.

“Maintaining the tradition of filling Ramadan with kindness yields numerous benefits for the wider community,” said Mahreyni. “As a state-owned enterprise committed to social and environmental aspects, SIG continues to deliver innovative corporate social responsibility programs to create added value for all stakeholders.”

Ahmad Faisal Ashar, 33, the secretary of the Nusantara Satu Kudus Foundation, expressed gratitude for SIG’s involvement in executing the Ramadan Work Assistance program, highlighting its role in fostering mutual cooperation among students to maintain the cleanliness and sustainability of school environments. He reflected, “Thank God, thanks to SIG for all forms of assistance; the response from students and the surrounding community has been excellent, as evidenced by their enthusiasm in participating in this cleanup activity from start to finish.”

On the other hand, SIG took its charitable initiatives to Gresik Regency, East Java, where the company distributed various types of assistance to the local community beginning on March 17, 2025. The programs included basic necessities, holiday benefits for teachers in religious education, and support for orphans, alongside enhancing facilities used for worship.

Edy Saraya, the General Manager for Corporate Social Responsibility at SIG, symbolically delivered assistance at the Manbaul Falah Mosque in Kibomas, representing their commitment to community upliftment. A total of 430 holiday packages were distributed in six villages, affecting many families and celebrating the spirit of sharing during Ramadan.

The aid included 60 basic food packages for local communities and 170 school supplies for orphans, with additional support for both individuals with disabilities and places of worship in the Kebomas, Gresik, and Manyar areas, facilitating successful implementation of Ramadan activities.

On March 25, 2025, Mahreyni reinforced their intentions to maximize the community benefits and blessings during this holy month. “Through participation, SIG conveys its sincere intent to provide numerous benefits and blessings for all of us, especially the community in meeting their needs during Ramadan and before Eid al-Fitr,” she stated.

The assistance has been met with appreciation from various community leaders. Nur Quna'ah, 66, a longstanding member of the TPQ Mujahadah who has been serving for 40 years, expressed his thanks to SIG for its consistent support and generosity. He explained how SIG has played a role in uplifting and maintaining support for both the teachers and the infrastructure involved in religious education, emphasizing, “Thank God, during my 40 years of service, our TPQ has never been without SIG's interest.

Furthermore, Babang Trimuno, another local mosque leader, acknowledged that the relief provided by SIG enables improved religious activities during Ramadan, such as prayers and community gatherings. “Thank God, SIG's attention always to the residents around the company, especially during Ramadan 1446 H, allows us to conduct our religious activities more ideally in the mosques,” he said.

These various community engagement initiatives from SIG throughout Ramadan epitomize a lasting commitment to social responsibility, strengthening the bonds shared with communities and highlighting the importance of collaboration in fostering a better society. Ultimately, SIG hopes to continually succeed in both business performance and social endeavors, ensuring broader benefits for communities beyond just Ramadan.
