The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has officially announced the results for the Class 8 examinations today, April 4, 2025. Puneet Verma, a student from Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School in Hoshiarpur, has achieved the top position by securing a perfect score of 100 percent.
Students who participated in the PSEB Class 8 exams, held from February 19 to March 7, 2025, can now access their results online. The results can be checked on the official PSEB website, pseb.ac.in, where students will need to enter their roll number or name to view their scorecards.
This year's examinations saw participation from approximately 290,471 students across 10,471 schools. Out of these, 282,627 students successfully passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 97.30%. This marks a slight decline from last year's impressive pass rate of 98.31%. Notably, the pass rate among girls was 98.82%, while boys recorded a pass rate of 97.84%.
To pass, students were required to achieve a minimum score of 33% in each subject. Those who did not meet this requirement will have the opportunity to sit for supplementary exams scheduled for July 2025. The supplementary exams provide a second chance for students to improve their scores in one or two subjects.
For students looking to check their results, the process is straightforward. They can visit the official PSEB website, navigate to the Class 8 results link, and log in using their roll number and date of birth. Alternatively, if the website experiences high traffic, students can also receive their results via SMS by sending "PB8" followed by their roll number to 5676750.
The PSEB Class 8 results were officially declared at 3:30 PM today, during a press conference held at the board's headquarters in Mohali. The event revealed key statistics about the examination, including the number of students who appeared and passed, as well as details about the top-performing students.
This year, Puneet Verma's remarkable achievement of scoring 600 out of 600 marks has placed him at the top of the state rankings. He is joined by Navjot Kaur from Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School, who also achieved a perfect score of 100 percent, and Gurleen Kaur from New Flowers Public Sr Secondary School in Amritsar, who secured 598 marks, placing her second in the state.
Last year, Harnoorpreet Kaur and Bhai Rupa from Bathinda district also topped the state with perfect scores. The consistent performance of students reflects the quality of education provided by schools under the PSEB.
Students dissatisfied with their results have the option to apply for re-evaluation. The re-evaluation process requires a fee of Rs 1,000 per answer sheet, along with an additional processing fee of Rs 500 for viewing the evaluated answer sheets.
As the academic year progresses, the PSEB has announced new school timings for the upcoming session, which commenced on April 1, 2025. Schools will operate from 8 AM to 2 PM, ensuring that students have ample time for their studies and extracurricular activities.
The PSEB Class 8 results are not only a reflection of individual student performance but also an indicator of the educational standards within the state. The board's commitment to maintaining high academic standards is evident in the results and the support it offers to students through supplementary exams and re-evaluation processes.
In summary, the announcement of the PSEB Class 8 results marks a significant milestone for students and educational institutions alike. With opportunities for improvement through supplementary exams and re-evaluation, students can continue to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.
