PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In an exciting afternoon of college softball, the Providence College Friars took on and triumphed over Boston College, clinching a 7-4 victory on March 18, 2025, at Brown Softball Field, bringing their season record to 7-16. The match showcased remarkable performances, particularly from Cameron Dunn who proved to be a standout player.
The game began with Boston College striking first, taking the lead 1-0 in the top of the first inning. However, Dunn quickly evened the score with an impressive RBI single, bringing the game to 1-1. Yet, the Eagles found themselves back on top when they reclaimed the lead at 2-1 in the second inning.
Just when it looked like Boston College might gain a stronghold, Providence's Bella Sebestian responded by smashing a two-run home run, her first of the season, which flipped the score to 3-2 in the Friars’ favor.
The hitting frenzy continued as Boston College added two more runs in the third inning, regaining a narrow lead at 4-3. But Dunn was not done yet. In a show of resilience, she belted another two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning, pushing the Friars ahead once again, this time 5-4.
As the game progressed, Providence kept their momentum. They extended their lead with an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Emma Eichten scored on a groundout from Emma Douma. Moreover, Gabriella Lee contributed a crucial RBI single in the sixth inning, bringing the score to 7-4 and solidifying Providence's lead.
On the mound, Alyssa Twomey shone brightly, pitching five innings and surrendering no runs on just four hits while striking out three batters, marking her second win of the season. The Friars' strong performance culminated in a well-earned victory, successfully capturing the day’s excitement.
