Pronto Farmaco Service Expands To Santeramo In Colle

The home delivery service for medications now assists more users with mobility limitations.

The "Pronto Farmaco" service is now available for users in the Municipality of Santeramo in Colle. Starting on Monday, May 12, 2025, this free home booking and delivery service will be expanded to assist users with limited mobility, particularly the elderly and people with disabilities. Managed by the Farmacia Territoriale of Altamura, this initiative aims to make access to essential medications easier for those who face challenges in reaching local pharmacies.

According to a statement from the ASL Bari, the service is designed to address the needs of individuals who may struggle to access pharmacies due to personal circumstances, distance, or other logistical issues. Dr. Stefania Antonacci, head of the Department of Drug Management, emphasized the importance of this service, stating that it will significantly benefit families and individuals who require assistance.

In 2024, the "Pronto Farmaco" program recorded approximately 14,000 deliveries from the Farmacie Territoriali of Bari (formerly known as CTO), Monopoli, and Altamura. These deliveries were particularly concentrated in the city of Bari, including the centers of Modugno and Bitritto, as well as in Monopoli, Conversano, Altamura, and Gravina. This extensive network of deliveries showcases the program's commitment to serving a broad community.

The home delivery service also integrates with direct home assistance for medical supplies, including stomas, intermittent catheters, and devices for artificial nutrition, covering both parenteral and enteral nutrition. In 2024 alone, over 6,400 deliveries of catheters and nutrition materials were made directly to patients' homes, highlighting the crucial role this service plays in supporting public health in the region.

Santeramo's Mayor, Vincenzo Casone, expressed gratitude for the collaboration with ASL Bari, particularly with Dr. Luigi Fruscio, the General Director. He noted, "This result is the outcome of a close dialogue aimed at resolving a long-standing issue that forced residents of Santeramo to travel to Altamura for medication or rely on volunteer organizations that have historically filled this need. This additional service responds to the growing public health demand in the area."

Accessing the "Pronto Farmaco" service is straightforward. Users can book their deliveries by calling 0805848357 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Alternatively, they can send an email to [email protected]. When emailing, it is essential to include "Richiesta consegna a domicilio" in the subject line and attach a copy of the prescription. The body of the email should contain the patient's personal information, delivery address, and a contact phone number.

The delivery service operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM, ensuring that users receive their medications promptly and efficiently. This initiative not only enhances the accessibility of healthcare services but also fosters a sense of community support for those who may feel isolated due to their mobility challenges.

The expansion of the "Pronto Farmaco" service to Santeramo in Colle represents a significant step toward improving healthcare accessibility for vulnerable populations. As the program continues to grow, it will likely inspire similar initiatives in other regions, emphasizing the need for inclusive healthcare solutions that cater to the diverse needs of the community.
