Prime Video has confirmed the renewal of the biblical drama series House of David for a second season, following its successful debut earlier this year. The first season, which premiered on February 27, 2025, has already made a significant impact, attracting 22 million viewers worldwide in just the first 17 days. With its strong performance, House of David quickly secured a spot in the top 10 new series debuts in the United States.
The new season of the series will continue to unfold David’s epic journey, following the battle between David and Goliath and his subsequent rise to the throne of Israel. As David grapples with palace politics, familial jealousy, and a burgeoning romance, he moves deeper into his destiny, learning what it takes to become a truly great leader. New episodes will be released weekly, culminating in the season finale on April 3.
House of David brings to life the story of the biblical figure David, exploring his ascent from a humble, outcast teenager to the renowned king of Israel. The series also delves into the tragic fall of King Saul, who succumbs to pride and loses his power. Under God’s direction, the prophet Samuel anoints David as the new king, setting in motion a saga of love, loss, and violence. As Saul’s rule crumbles, David embarks on a journey of self-discovery and fulfillment of his destiny.
The series was created by visionary filmmakers Jon Erwin (known for Jesus Revolution and American Underdog) and Jon Gunn (recognized for Ordinary Angels), who return as directors, writers, and executive producers for season two. Michael Iskander will reprise his role as David, alongside an impressive cast that includes Ali Suliman as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Stephen Lang as Samuel, and Indy Lewis as Mychal, among others.
In a statement, Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed excitement over the series’ success and the upcoming season: “Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn’s compelling creative vision has solidified our belief in the series and we are excited to deliver more of the story to our customers. We look forward to a continued journey with Wonder Project as we further expand our slate to encompass faith-based series.”
Erwin and Gunn also shared their gratitude for the global reception of the show: “We are humbled by the extraordinary reaction this show has earned from the faith audience worldwide. Thanks to them and our partners at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, Wonder Project will bring more of the Bible and this epic saga to a global audience.”
In addition to Iskander, several key cast members will reprise their roles in season two, including Stephen Lang, Ayelet Zurer, Ali Suliman, and Ethan Kai. Other notable returning actors include Sam Otto, Oded Fehr, and Ashraf Barhom. New faces such as Yoson An and Alexander Uloom will also join the ensemble cast, further enriching the story’s world.
The series is produced by Wonder Project, with executive producers including Erwin, Gunn, Justin Rosenblatt, Trey Callaway, Michael Frislev, Chad Oakes, Ethan Reiff & Cyrus Voris, and Jonathan Walker. Justin Rosenblatt serves as the executive in charge of production for Wonder Project. Dallas Jenkins, creator and producer-director of The Chosen, is a shareholder and special advisor to the project.
As anticipation builds for the release of the new season, House of David is poised to continue its global success, offering viewers an epic, faith-driven journey through one of the Bible’s most iconic stories.
