Prime Minister Launches New Support Program For Egyptian Exports

The initiative aims to enhance export growth and adapt to international market demands.

In a significant step aimed at enhancing Egypt's economic foothold, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly convened a meeting on March 25, 2025, with key ministers to discuss the restructuring of a comprehensive export support program. The meeting brought together a coalition of officials, including Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, and other critical figures from the Ministry of Tourism, Agriculture, Investment, and Finance. This collaborative effort signifies the government's commitment to elevating the export sector to new heights.

During the session, Madbouly emphasized the growing importance of increasing and developing exports and acknowledged the concerted efforts from various state agencies to enhance this vital sector. He remarked, "The government will continue its efforts to boost production rates and increase Egyptian exports," according to Mohamed El-Homsy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

The core aim of the meeting was to put forward various proposals and initiatives related to the new export support program. Discussions revolved around how to construct a fully integrated approach to bolster Egyptian exports while strategically targeting new international markets.

The proposal for the new export support program included a number of general features and criteria tailored to different industrial sectors. These measures are anticipated to align with the economic and social objectives that the government aims to achieve in the export domain, as noted during the presentations made at the meeting.

As a part of this initiative, the Prime Minister directed that the final proposal of the export support program be presented to exporters to ensure comprehensive feedback and agreement on its provisions. Such collaboration is crucial for addressing the specific needs of industries on the ground.

This move has come at a time when there are calls for the swift cancellation of the old rent law, which affects property owners. The inclusion of support focusing on logistics, especially in regards to transportation and trade sectors, was highlighted as a crucial element along with traditional financial support. Stakeholders emphasize the pressing need to adapt policies that would ensure fair conditions and unlock opportunities for various sectors.

In conclusion, the efforts to reshape the export support program reflect a nuanced understanding of global market dynamics. With the potential for expansive growth in Egyptian exports, stakeholders are hopeful that this program will provide the necessary resources and framework to make significant advancements. The government’s focus on integrating supportive measures across different sectors might indeed chart a new course for Egyptian exports, contributing positively to the economy at large.
