The 5th edition of the Positive Energy Awards, known as the 'Lan toả Năng Lượng Tích Cực' competition, took place on December 21, 2023, at the Tuổi Trẻ newspaper’s headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City. This yearly contest seeks to shine a light on positive stories and actions from the community, encouraging readers to share their heartfelt experiences.
With more than 1,500 submissions this year, the competition stood out due to its focus on home-made video entries. "The fifth edition has seen great engagement from our readers, with all clips submitted independently created by the contestants themselves," remarked Lê Xuân Trung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuổi Trẻ.
Throughout the contest, entries largely centered on themes of solidarity, social contributions, resilience through adversity, pursuing one's passion, and preserving traditional cultural values. One standout entry titled 'Nhà May Mắn' (Lucky House) tells the inspiring story of Aline Rebeaud, a Swiss national who established a center caring for countless orphans and disabled children. 'The Lucky House' has operated for over 30 years through the unwavering dedication and love of Aline, who is affectionately called Hoàng Nữ Ngọc Tim.
This heartwarming story clinched the first prize, awarded with 20 million VND, reflecting the judges' appreciation for both the story's emotional depth and its societal impact. The contest ran from August 1 to October 31, 2023, under the theme 'From Heart to Heart,' emphasizing the importance of genuine emotion and sincerity behind each creation.
After three months of adjuration, the organizing committee selected 130 clips for public viewing and awarded 19 prizes, including one first prize, one second prize, one third, and 15 encouragement awards, along with two special prizes for outstanding contributions. There was also recognition for the most popular contest clip and most impressive status update.
The Positive Energy Awards ceremony was conducted with the support of Herbalife Vietnam, which has played a significant role as the competition's partner. This collaboration aims to bolster the search for creative content creators eager to share positive narratives and dreams, especially focused on the future, within the city.
The participation of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communication showcases official support for initiatives encouraging content creation within the community, promoting the theme 'Embracing the Future Together with Metro,' which aligns with the city's innovative growth and development strategies.
Through this competition, organizers envision fostering more great ideas and initiatives, inspiring individuals to contribute positively to society.
