Pordenone is set to light up with magic for Christmas 2024, welcoming visitors with a flurry of enchanting activities and events aimed at both the young and the young at heart. From December 22 to January 6, 2025, this vibrant city will transform, becoming a breathtaking holiday spectacle filled with opportunities to celebrate the season.
To facilitate the influx of visitors, the local municipality has declared several days of free parking to encourage attendance at the city's festive events. This initiative will be particularly active on Monday, December 23, and Tuesday, December 24, allowing shoppers and event-goers to park without cost at various locations throughout the city, including the Vallona, Oberdan, Candiani, Rivierasca, Tribunale, and Corte del Bosco parking structures. Notably, parking will remain free from December 22 through December 26, providing ample opportunity for holiday shopping. The vice mayor, Parigi, and the commerce assessor, Ceolin, stated, "Mettiamo in campo questo impegno di Bilancio – un grande ponte di parcheggi gratuiti dal 22 al 26 dicembre... to support local businesses and to create attractive events."
Aside from the free parking, the Palazzo del Fumetto will extend its hours to showcase special holiday exhibitions and events, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully in the festive experience. The museum will operate on December 23, 24, and 26 from 3 PM to 7 PM, as well as additional days, including December 30 and January 1. On Epiphany, January 6, 2025, the museum will host continuous hours from 10 AM to 7 PM.
Throughout these festive dates, the Palazzo will host the Winter Camp, encouraging creativity among children during their school break. This engaging program involves various activities like art workshops which promote creativity and learning. While the first week of the camp is already sold out, there are still spots available for the second week from December 30 to January 3. This initiative aims to blend fun with educational experiences, making it the perfect holiday option for families. Eupolis Studio Associato organizes this event, highlighting the importance of nurturing creativity among the youth.
The museum will not only host art activities but also guided tours led by Enrico Sist. These tours will offer visitors unique insights during the holiday period, with special sessions dedicated to the Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti exhibition taking place on December 28 and 29, making this cultural offering even more appealing during the Christmas season. Saturday, December 21, and Sunday, December 22, will feature guided visits to the museum's permanent exhibitions and special shows at 4 PM and 5:30 PM.
For those curious about contemporary artistry, the Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti exhibition, which is running until March 9, 2025, showcases the visual and musical aspects of this iconic band. The exhibition reflects how creativity can transcend boundaries and engage the community. Also on display is "Oltremari – Nuove Traiettorie del Fumetto Arabo", which celebrates vibrant narratives from young Arab artists. This exhibition delves deep, offering unique perspectives through drawings, transforming how stories are told.
Pordenone’s central streets will also be alive with additional festivities, including cultural and musical performances aimed at engaging citizens and visitors alike. The entire program is geared toward creating lasting memories during this festive season, ensuring families can enjoy everything from holiday shopping to delightful artistic experiences.
With such diverse offerings, from free parking to engaging children's camps and enriching museum exhibits, Pordenone is poised to be the place to celebrate this holiday season. The city invites everyone to partake in its magical transformation, fostering community spirit and encouraging local shopping, all wrapped up in the warmth of the holidays.
