Iosif Dzhagaev, the Russian politician and opposition activist, was acquitted by a Hong Kong court of charges related to alleged sexual misconduct against a local woman. The court's decision puts to rest the case against him, which stemmed from an incident reported to have occurred last October in the busy district of Tsim Sha Tsui.
According to reports, the woman accused Dzhagaev of touching her intimate areas as she walked down the street. The incident, as described by the victim, involved Dzhagaev allegedly making contact with her from behind. He maintained his innocence throughout the trial, stating the touch could have been accidental, especially as he claimed to have been intoxicated at the time.
The legal proceedings lasted approximately five months, with Dzhagaev appearing at seven different court hearings. Upon his arrest, he was briefly held but later released on bail. He emphasized how the case occupied significant time and resources, stating he was unable to return to Russia for five months due to the legal proceedings.

He plans to continue his travel across Southeast Asia, eager to put the incident behind him and resume his political and personal pursuits outside of Russia.
