Police Prepare For Safe Homecoming During Eid 2025

Local law enforcement launches Operation Ketupat Lodaya to ensure smooth travel and community comfort for holiday travelers.

In Indonesia, local police departments are gearing up for the 2025 Eid al-Fitr homecoming season through a series of extensive security measures known as Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2025, aimed at ensuring safe and smooth travel for millions during this significant holiday period.

On Saturday night, March 22, 2025, personnel from the Karawang and Subang police departments began taking positions at various posts, ready to secure the anticipated influx of travelers. The operation officially kicks off on March 23 and will run until April 8, with the main focus on managing traffic effectively and safeguarding community members as they head home for the festivities.

In a recent statement, IPDA Solikhin of the Polres Karawang emphasized the collaborative approach the police are taking: "Personel yang terlibat akan bertindak dengan pendekatan simpatik, persuasif, dan humanis untuk memastikan kelancaran perjalanan para pemudik" (Personnel involved will act with a sympathetic, persuasive, and humanistic approach to ensure a smooth journey for travelers). This reflects a commitment to maintaining a friendly atmosphere while upholding safety standards.

In Subang, the police have deployed an impressive 1,157 personnel as part of the operation. AKBP Ariek Indra Sentanu, the head of Subang police, reiterated the importance of security for the community: "Kami kerahkan 1.157 personil Gabungan untuk amankan mudik lebaran 2025 dan pastikan akan memberikan pelayanan yang terbaik untuk memberikan rasa aman dan nyaman kepada masyarakat yang tengah melaksanakan mudik lebaran" (We have deployed 1,157 combined personnel to secure the 2025 Eid homecoming and ensure the best services to provide a sense of security and comfort to the community during this holiday). This substantial presence is expected to enhance not only security but also public confidence during the chaotic travel season.

As part of the preparation, both departments have set up integrated posts at strategic locations, such as the Rest Area KM57 on Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road and Rest Area 102 A on Cipali Toll Road. These posts are not just checkpoints but hubs of support for travelers, offering essential amenities. The Subang police station, for instance, is equipped with massage chairs, designated rest areas, children's playing zones, and health service facilities to aid travelers in case of exhaustion.

Polres Karawang's operation aims to curtail traffic accidents, reduce violations, and alleviate congestion in their jurisdiction. They are emphasizing the significance of discipline in traffic. "Kami ingin menciptakan situasi Kamseltibcarlantas yang aman, nyaman, dan selamat bagi masyarakat selama arus mudik dan balik Lebaran Idul Fitri" (We want to create a safe, comfortable, and secure traffic situation for the community during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and returning flow), added Solikhin. The Karawang police have introduced a slogan, "Mudik Aman – Keluarga Nyaman" (Safe Homecoming – Comfortable Family), to encapsulate their mission.

The operation also includes educational initiatives aimed at inspiring citizens to maintain discipline on the roads. Police officers will actively engage with travelers, sharing advice and resources on safe traveling practices. With the increase in vehicular traffic expected during this season, educating the public remains a vital part of maintaining order and safety.

In an effort to manage the high volume at rest areas effectively, Subang police have restricted rest times to just 15 minutes per vehicle. AKBP Ariek Indra Sentanu explained, "Namun demi mencegah membludaknya kendaraan pemudik yang masuk ke Rest Area 102A Tol Cipali, kami Jajaran Kepolisian Polres Subang membatasi waktu istirahat di rest Area hanya 15 menit untuk setiap kendaraan, guna memberikan kesempatan bagi pemudik lainnya untuk beristirahat" (To prevent an overflow of vehicles entering Rest Area 102A on Cipali Toll Road, we have limited rest time to just 15 minutes per vehicle to give opportunities for other travelers to rest). Travelers are encouraged to exit the toll road if they require a longer rest period, using the Kalijati or Cilameri exit ramps.

As the operation unfolds, authorities underscore the necessity for individuals traveling to check their vehicle conditions and ensure safety precautions are in place. Continuous reminders are being circulated about the importance of taking breaks to maintain focus on the road, safeguarding lives.

The presence of a dedicated police hotline, especially for emergencies, is also being publicized. Citizens are reminded that they can utilize the Police Mudik Hotline 110 during their journey should they require assistance, ensuring support is just a call away.

With the collaboration of law enforcement, community leaders, and the public, Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2025 is poised to create a secure environment during this busy travel season. This initiative exemplifies the ongoing efforts to not only manage traffic flow but also foster a sense of community solidarity that is especially vivid during the joyous Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
