As May approaches, cities across Poland are gearing up for a series of celebrations honoring significant national holidays and historical events. In Czestochowa, the local government has announced that the City Hall will be closed on Friday, May 2, 2025, in observance of Polish Flag Day, which falls on the same date. This closure is in accordance with labor regulations that require employers to designate a day off when a holiday coincides with a weekend.
May 1 marks International Workers' Solidarity Day, a tradition that dates back to 1890. This year, the holiday will be celebrated with various events, including parades and ceremonies across the country. In Czestochowa, the Registry of Deaths at the Civil Registry Office will remain open on May 2, allowing residents to access essential services from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
On May 3, the city will host celebrations for Constitution Day, commemorating the adoption of the Polish Constitution in 1791. This year also marks the anniversary of the Third Silesian Uprising, which began in 1921. While Czestochowa prepares for its local observances, the city of Konin will also be bustling with activity as it celebrates Labor Day on May 1. Representatives from all municipalities of the former Konin Province will participate in a parade set to begin at 12:00 PM, with participants gathering an hour earlier at the Konin amphitheater.
The parade will follow a route from ul. Wyszynski to Aleje 1 Maja, culminating at Plac Niepodleglosci, where a festive May Day celebration will take place. This event will feature a picnic with refreshments provided by local agricultural circles and various attractions for children and families.
Konin, which was established as a province in 1975 and existed until 1998, will also use this occasion to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Konin Mine. The parade will include members of various trade organizations, as well as musical performances from local bands and artistic groups.
