Pogoń Szczecin Signs Brazilian Striker Renyer

Former Santos FC talent joins Szczecin club on long-term contract as expectations rise.

Brazilian striker Renyer has officially joined Pogoń Szczecin, signing a contract with the club valid until the end of the 2027/28 season. At just 21 years old, Renyer, whose full name is Renyer Luan de Oliveira Damasceno, was born on July 12, 2003, in Rio de Janeiro. He made his professional debut for Santos FC when he was just 16 years and 206 days old, becoming the fifth youngest player to ever play for the historic Brazilian club known for producing world stars like Pelé and Neymar.

Renyer's early career, though promising, was marred by serious knee injuries, which have stalled his progress and limited his playing time. He played only eight matches for Santos' first team before moving to Guarani FC in 2023, where he appeared three times. After leaving Guarani, he was without a club for several months prior to his recent signing with Pogoń Szczecin.

The move to Pogoń Szczecin, where he has already begun training with the second team, has left fans curious and somewhat surprised, particularly about the length of his contract. While many expected shorter deals for incoming players, Pogoń's new management appears committed to providing Renyer with ample time to acclimate and recover physically.

According to Pogoń Szczecin's official statements, "Renyer joined our club with hopes of bolstering our attack and will initially be training with the second team to regain full fitness before integrating with the first team." This measured approach reflects the club's strategy to nurture talent, acknowledging the player’s injuries.

There are high hopes resting on Renyer as he seeks to revive his career after setbacks. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if he can regain form and contribute to the team's success. His signing marks Pogoń's first step under the new management banner, which has committed to bring several new players this winter.

Renyer's background as part of Brazil's youth teams, including stints with both the U-15 and U-17 squads, adds depth to his profile. His experience at the national level indicates the potential the club sees, hoping he can replicate his youth success on the professional stage.

With the club's current momentum, winning several league matches at the start of the season, the integration of Renyer could prove pivotal. After victories against clubs like Zagłębie Lubin and Górnik Zabrze, he will be expected to contribute as soon as he acclimatizes. Pogoń Szczecin's management has made it clear they are not rushing his inclusion to the first team, preferring instead to prioritize his long-term development.

Supporters are eager for Renyer to drum up his latent potential, hoping he follows through with the aspirations outlined by the club's new leadership. His ability to return to form could significantly impact the team’s standing in the league and rekindle his career, marking another interesting chapter for the Polish side as they look toward future successes.
