New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed over 71,000 appointment letters to newly appointed recruits during the Rozgar Mela initiative on December 23, 2024, via video conferencing. This significant event reflects the government's commitment to empowering youth through job creation and meaningful engagement in nation-building.
During his address, PM Modi extended heartfelt congratulations to the new recruits and their families, stating, "I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the youth and their families." Emphasizing the government's focus on utilizing the potential of India's youth, he remarked, "Our top priority is to make full use of the potential and talent of India's youth. Through Rozgar Mela, we are continuously working in this direction." Over the last year and a half, the government has provided nearly 10 lakh permanent government jobs, marking remarkable progress.
Highlighting the initiative’s importance, PM Modi reflected on how previous administrations lacked such employment initiatives. "Today, millions of youth are getting jobs in the country, and these jobs are being provided with complete honesty and transparency," he noted. The Prime Minister emphasized the pivotal role of youth in national development, stating, "The development of any country happens through the strength and leadership of its youth. Everyone has taken a pledge to build a developed India by 2047, and at the heart of every policy and decision is the talented youth of this country."
The Rozgar Mela connected 45 locations across India, with significant participation noted from Arunachal Pradesh, where Union Minister Kiren Rijiju distributed appointment letters to 258 candidates at Itanagar. The new recruits will join various government ministries and departments, including the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, Indian Postal Department, and others.
PM Modi continued to elaborate on the various government initiatives aimed at empowering youth, including Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Startup India, Standup India, and Digital India, which have placed young people at the heart of national policy. "India’s youth are filled with new self-confidence and are raising the flag of success in every sector — from renewable energy to defence, and from space exploration to tourism," he said.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also addressed the gathering, focusing on the infrastructure and opportunities created to empower youth. "This government has built the necessary infrastructure, and now it is the turn of the youth to secure employment. Their success will not only support their families but also pave the way for their personal growth and success," he commented.
The Prime Minister's remarks underline how the Rozgar Mela is just one step toward fulfilling the commitment to creating opportunities for youth participation and self-empowerment. He pointed out, "Today marks a new beginning for thousands of youth in the country. Your years of dreams have come true, years of hard work have paid off." The Prime Minister is also aware of the existing challenges, especially related to women’s empowerment and rural development.
Underlining the government's achievements, Modi spoke on numerous revolutionary schemes under the National Education Policy. "The system was restrictive before, but now it fosters innovation through initiatives like Atal Tinkering Labs and PM-SHRI schools," he remarked, adding how educational programs are now accessible, respecting local languages and cultures, benefiting rural and marginalized areas.
PM Modi referenced today's date, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, often revered as the father of India’s rural development. He acknowledged the importance of farmers and rural youth, stressing how the government's policies are aimed at creating job opportunities and welfare for the agrarian community.
He mentioned various initiatives, such as Gobar-Dhan Yojana which generates jobs by establishing biogas plants, and other programs focused on enhancing rural employment. "Our government’s efforts have increased job security for women, and many women have received their appointment letters today. I hope they inspire others," he stated, highlighting the importance of women's inclusion in these opportunities.
