PlayStation Plus January 2025 Games: Departures And Predictions

Sony prepares to announce free games for the new year amid speculation and excitement among subscribers.

January 2025 is already shaping up to be significant for subscribers of PlayStation Plus, as Sony prepares to announce which games will be available for users, as well as which ones will be exiting the service.

On January 1, 2025, PlayStation Plus Essentials will reveal the free available games at precisely 4:30 p.m. GMT. Subscribers will have to be patient, as the new lineup won't be available for download until January 7. Following, announcements for Extra and Premium tiers are scheduled for January 15, with those games launching on January 21.

While the anticipation builds, gamers are already counting down the days until this update. Currently, PS Plus subscribers can still access and enjoy several games, including the collaboration-driven adventure title It Takes Two and the critically acclaimed strategy game Aliens: Dark Descent. But as the year kicks off, 11 games are confirmed to leave the PS Plus catalog—some big titles among them include Resident Evil 2, Just Cause 4, and Dragon Ball FighterZ. Each title is scheduled to depart the service within the first two weeks of January.

Speculation and predictions about new games joining the line-up have been sparking interest among fans. Recently, Reddit user kayrakaanonline, known for providing reliable estimates, suggests several notable games might leave PS Plus soon. According to their insights, titles such as The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, Wild Hearts, and Outriders are expected to be unavailable starting February 2025. This stems from historical agreements between EA and PlayStation, typically lasting for around six months, indicating Wild Hearts will exit soon. Meanwhile, both The Outer Worlds and Outriders are anticipated to leave due to reaching the end of their respective stay durations.

Without any confirmed leaks just yet for the January lineup, predictions are largely speculative. Fans hope for the inclusion of popular titles such as Resident Evil Village or potentially Resident Evil 4 Remake, especially with rumors swirling about Capcom planning to release another Resident Evil game this year. The predictions thread has also sparked excitement for titles like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, and even God of War Ragnarok. Although some picks might reflect hopeful desires more than speculation.

Interestingly enough, the upcoming departures are underlined by notable titles’ arrival patterns. It Takes Two will be available until January 6, and so will Aliens: Dark Descent along with TemTem. Other games scheduled for leave include iterations from the Just Cause series and various other favorites beloved by fans.

The PS Plus service had its ups and downs throughout 2024, providing solid gaming moments though not quite repeating the heights experienced during 2023. Yet, as subscribers step forward with new offerings being teased, excitement remains palpable for what January 2025 will hold.

Fans can continue checking updates from reliable sources like Daily Express to determine definitive releases versus predictions as the launch date approaches. No matter the outcome, the ultimate goal remains: to keep subscribers engaged with unique and exciting gaming opportunities all year long.
