Pistons Dominate Jazz 134-106 To Start Road Trip

Cade Cunningham leads the charge with 29 points as Pistons claim their 10th win in 11 games.

The Detroit Pistons commenced their four-game West Coast road trip with
a commanding victory over the Utah Jazz, defeating them 134-106 on March 3, 2025.
Cade Cunningham led the way for the Pistons, lighting up the court with 29 points, nine
assists, and four steals. This impressive win marks Detroit's 10th victory out of their last 11 games,
a feat the franchise has not accomplished since the 2007-08 season.

The game kicked off with intensity,
as Detroit wasted no time asserting their dominance. After finishing the first quarter
with a 36-22 lead, the Pistons extended their advantage to 67-47 by halftime,
largely thanks to their aggressive defense and efficient offense. Cunningham, who previously struggled with
his shooting, stepped up with 17 points during the first half.

A standout among the Pistons' roster, Jalen Duren contributed significantly to
the win, delivering 16 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals, showcasing
his growing prowess on both ends of the court. Ausar Thompson also had
a stellar performance, finishing the night with 17 points, going 7-for-7 from the field, six
rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

For the Jazz, who finished their nine-game homestand with a disappointing 3-6 record,
Kyle Filipowski was the bright spot, scoring 25 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Collin Sexton added 16 points, and Walker Kessler contributed 14 points and nine rebounds.
Despite their efforts, the Jazz fell victim to 28 turnovers and shot just 42.7% from the field.

The Pistons capitalized on every opportunity, scoring 21 points off 17 Jazz turnovers
and shooting 55.4% from the field overall. Their performance was not just
a matter of offense;
their defense was equally impressive, limiting Utah's shooting to 39.5% and forcing multiple turnovers
throughout the game.

The decisive moments came when Detroit went on
a 14-2 run late in the fourth quarter, solidifying their already commanding lead.
Jazz coach Will Hardy acknowledged the challenges his team faced, noting,
"Playing against such disciplined defenses is tough, especially when we struggle to hold onto the
ball as we did tonight. Too many mistakes cost us this game."

With the win, the Pistons now sit at 35-27 overall, only seven wins away from tripling their total
from the 2023-2024 season, with 20 games remaining before the regular season concludes on
April 13, 2025. They continue their road trip against the Clippers next, followed
by games against Golden State and Portland.

Meanwhile, the Jazz prepare for their upcoming five-game road trip, beginning against the
Washington Wizards on March 5, 2025. The team will miss playing at the Delta Center, where
the fans have remained supportive even amid the struggles, as Hardy reflected, "Playing at home is
a massive boost, particularly for our young team. We appreciate the support we receive from our fans."
This extended road trip will keep the Jazz away from home until March 14, 2025, and will be pivotal for
their momentum as the playoffs approach.

Both teams look to adjust as they head down the stretch of the season, with the Pistons aiming
to solidify their position and the struggling Jazz hoping to regain their form on the road.
