Photography Exhibition Celebrates Winners Of Miss Girls Audition

The exhibition highlights past champions and showcases their current journeys as models.

In a tribute to the blossoming talents of Japan’s next-generation stars, a photography exhibition titled 'AWARD Grandprix, at present ~The 'Present' of Past Grand Prix Winners~' is set to open on March 22, 2025. This event coincides with the final judging and award ceremony for the Miss Girls Audition AWARD 2025 supported by FELICE at Kanda Myojin Hall in Tokyo.

The exhibition is a captivating collaboration with the creative team NegativePop, led by well-known photographer Yoshinaga Marutani. The exhibition showcases the work of some of Japan's top photographers who have captured stunning portraits of past Grand Prix winners, revealing their hidden charms and current achievements.

Six talented models feature prominently in the exhibition, each representing a different facet of Japan's youthful vibrancy. As budding stars, they embody the inspiration behind the Miss Girls Audition and have been photographed using expert techniques to maximize their natural allure.

In addition to the photography, an accompanying promotional movie is being unveiled at the exhibition venue, offering an immersive experience to visitors. Clips from this film are being shared on Instagram leading up to the exhibition, allowing audiences a sneak peek into the artistic endeavor.

The exhibition not only captures the essence of previous winners but also pays homage to the prestige of the competition itself. The Miss Girls Audition is renowned for attracting a large number of participants, with approximately 8,200 applications registered for the 2025 event, setting a new record for the competition’s history.

Among the past winners, Yuzuki Ito, crowned in 2019, expressed her journey beautifully, stating, “What I truly am is something I’m curious about; perhaps if it’s different, it could be what I wanted,” reflecting a thoughtful self-exploration through her modeling career.

Yuna Sato, the 2020 Grand Prix winner, also shared her sentiments on the importance of artistry in photography: “I am just grateful that you understood my worldview and completely embodied the image I envisioned,” a testament to the collaborative spirit between models and photographers.

For each year’s winner, the experience is something special. According to Karen Shirashi, the winner from 2021, the session was a dream-like encounter as she remarked, “Each click of the shutter brought a heavenly session where she responded with all her heart.” This deep connection between the model and the resulting photossets the tone for artistry within the exhibition.

The 2022 Grand Prix recipient, Yua Sugawara, indicated the importance of the craft itself, sharing, “The age gap between the two of us is almost half a century, and on the day of the session, despite being cold, there was no hint of discomfort,” showcasing the comfort and professionalism that transcends age differences in the modeling world.

As for the latest 2024 Grand Prix winner, Ameri Kohara, she excitedly stated, “It was fun to capture Ameli-chan, who has a blend of girlhood and womanhood,” underscoring the duality of youth and maturity present in today's models, which makes this generation uniquely captivating.

As this celebratory exhibition unfolds, it not only highlights the artistic endeavors of seasoned photographers and the emergent wave of new talent but also underscores the continuing evolution of the modeling industry in Japan. It promises to be an inspiring day for all who attend, as it honors not just the past, but also the bright future that lies ahead for these young stars.
