PT Pertamina (Persero) is set to launch its annual Pertamina Goes to Campus (PGTC) initiative, aimed at empowering young Indonesians to take the lead on sustainable energy practices. The program will engage over 10 universities throughout the nation between February and October 2025, with its kickoff slated for February 28 at Universitas Indonesia.
Following the theme "Energizing Youth for Future Energy," PGTC seeks to educate and inspire the next generation about their pivotal role in energy governance and sustainability efforts. During the program, participants will partake in various activities such as Energizing Talk sessions featuring industry leaders, exhibitions, and interactive workshops aimed at creating tangible impact and involvement.
"Through this activity, we hope Pertamina can build awareness, increase engagement, and facilitate collaboration between the company and the academic sector," stated Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Pertamina's VP of Corporate Communications. He emphasized the importance of raising awareness among youth about energy oversight, which will cultivate their future leadership within Indonesia’s energy narrative.
The program's engaging framework will allow students to confront and discuss core challenges within the energy sector, preparing them to expand their horizons. While fostering political and corporate discussions, PGTC aims to encourage innovative approaches toward future energy solutions, especially amid the pressing challenges of climate change.
Throughout the months, participating universities will host distinct events featuring exhibitions like the AI Photobooth, energy challenges, and opportunities to interact with professionals within the energy industry. By connecting students directly to the sectors shaping their futures, Pertamina seeks to equip them with firsthand experiences and insights along the way.
Not just talking the talk, Pertamina’s active role extends to addressing net zero emissions and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their commitment reflects broader societal trends where companies are increasingly expected to contribute positively toward social and environmental sustainability.
Fadjar maintains, "It is necessary to create awareness about energy governance among the youth who will continue the leadership baton of energy management nationally." Encouragingly, Pertamina's actions align with this vision, as they aim to invest and innovate within renewable energy spaces.
The PGTC activities this year represent not just education but also the creation of networks and relationships between students, industry professionals, and educators, providing more value to conventional learning materials. This kind of interaction is invaluable as students learn to navigate their traditional studies with real-world applications.
For many young participants, this initiative could serve as the catalyst for future careers, innovation, and contributions to Indonesia’s energy policy and practices, fundamentally shifting the dynamics of sustainability discussions.
The program is also intended to serve as inspiration to those beyond just academic settings. The youth are urged to engage with sustainability by participating actively, voicing their opinions, and contributing their insights during discussions and workshops throughout PGTC.
Indeed, these students are not just passive observers but potential change-makers who will shape the energy sector's path. Pertamina’s PGTC is giving them the tools to rise to the occasion, redefine success, and challenge norms.
With the 2025 PGTC program underway, anticipation brews about the innovations and dynamism these young adults will bring to the energy conversation. These interactions are expected to push boundaries and ignite excitement about embracing sustainability and responsibility. It signifies promising advancements within Indonesia’s future energy framework.
By integrating knowledge with practice, Pertamina’s initiative is expected to bolster the connection between energy leadership and its future practitioners. Therefore, as the next generation prepares to step up, the PGTC event could sow the seeds needed for transformative energy solutions.
