Pedro Martínez Losa Takes Helm Of Tigres Femenil

Spanish coach appointed to lead the team after Milagros Martínez’s departure.

Pedro Martínez Losa, the accomplished Spanish coach, has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Tigres Femenil, stepping in after the exit of Milagros Martínez. This appointment marks an exciting chapter for the women’s football team, which aims to fortify its legacy and competitive edge as the Clausura 2025 season approaches.

Martínez Losa’s hiring was quickly confirmed by Tigres after Milagros Martínez parted ways with the team following her three tournaments with the club, which saw her lead Tigres to triumph during the Apertura 2023 and narrowly miss out on back-to-back titles by losing the 2024 final against rivals Rayadas. The team expressed their gratitude to Milagros, with the club tweeting, "Gracias, 'Mila', por tu trabajo y compromiso dirigiendo a las Amazonas. ¡Te deseamos lo mejor en tus próximos proyectos!" This heartfelt farewell highlighted her contributions to the club's success.

At 48 years old, Martínez Losa brings with him nearly two decades of experience coaching women's football at both club and national levels. His career began at Pozuelo Alarcón Femenil, followed by significant success at Rayo Vallecano, where he won the Primera División title three times consecutively between 2008 and 2011. After establishing himself in Spain, Martínez Losa made the leap to the United States, serving as assistant coach for Western New York Flash.

His transition back to Europe was marked by his tenure at Arsenal, where he guided the women's team to win the FA Women’s Cup and the FA Women’s League Cup during the 2015-2016 season. Following his successful stint at Arsenal, he moved to the Bordeaux Femenil team before taking on the challenge of managing the Scotland women's national team. Unfortunately, his time with Scotland ended recently as they failed to qualify for the Euro 2025, losing to Finland in the playoff rounds.

Now, Martínez Losa faces the challenge of rejuvenation at Tigres Femenil as they prepare for the new season. He has reportedly agreed to terms with the club, which is optimistic about what he can bring to the table based on his rich history and expertise. There are high expectations for him to navigate the squad through the challenges of the impending Clausura 2025, starting with their fixture against Tijuana on January 6, 2025, at the Estadio Universitario, where he will make his debut as the coach.

The move to appoint Martínez Losa is seen as Tigres' strategy to inject new energy and knowledge at the helm, paving the way forward to reclaim their championship glory. His extensive background in European women’s football is revered, and the club hopes he can channel this experience effectively within the Liga MX Femenil framework.

While it remains to be seen how Losa will influence the team dynamics, one thing is for sure: his arrival at Tigres Femenil is set to create significant buzz and anticipation within the Mexican football community. Will Martínez Losa lead Tigres back to the top of the league? Fans and analysts alike are eager to witness the upcoming season's developments.
