Patriots Sign Center Garrett Bradbury To Two-Year Deal

The New England team continues to bolster its roster with aggressive free agency signings, including three players from the Raiders.

The New England Patriots have been on a spending spree this offseason, making headlines with a string of significant player acquisitions. Their latest move occurred on March 18, 2025, when the team announced a two-year deal with veteran center Garrett Bradbury, previously of the Minnesota Vikings. This contract is reportedly worth up to $12 million, with $3.8 million guaranteed. Bradbury was cut by the Vikings just a day earlier after the team signed center Ryan Kelly, allowing the Patriots to quickly snag him from the free agent pool.

Bradbury, a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, had been a consistent presence for Minnesota, starting 88 games over six seasons. Last year, he faced challenges on the field, allowing four sacks and 36 pressures while protecting the quarterback on 627 pass-blocking snaps, which corresponds to a pressure rate of 5.7%—the highest in his career.

The signing of Bradbury adds depth to an offensive line that the Patriots are actively rebuilding this offseason. This recent acquisition also marks a continuing trend for New England as they have been very active in the free agency market. The Patriots entered free agency this year with over $125 million in available salary cap space and have used it to bolster their roster significantly.

So far in this free agency period, New England has added a total of ten players, spending an impressive $295.9 million across these acquisitions. Their major signings include defensive tackle Milton Williams for four years at $104 million, cornerback Carlton Davis for three years at $54 million, and edge rusher Harold Landry, who signed for three years at $43.5 million. Other notable signings are linebacker Robert Spillane, right tackle Morgan Moses, wide receiver Mack Hollins, quarterback Joshua Dobbs, edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson, and safety Marcus Epps, each adding their own strengths to the team.

Among their free agent signings, the Patriots are particularly noted for having acquired three players from the Las Vegas Raiders: Spillane, Chaisson, and Epps. The Raiders, who expressed frustration at the Patriots' aggressive recruitment of their former players, could be poised to retaliate in the next season. This strategic movement highlights the Patriots' intent to enhance their roster while also capitalizing on the impact of these players from the Raiders who, last season, made an impression on the Patriots’ coaching staff.

As one of the leading spenders this offseason, the Patriots have set the tone for NFL free agency. Their commitment to player acquisition is evident, especially since they spent $284 million alone on the first day of free agency—a staggering $132 million more than any other team. This proactive strategy demonstrates New England's ambition to return to playoff contention following a disappointing previous season.

The Patriots have gained a reputation for making bold moves in the off-season, and this year appears no different as they look to reshape their team into a stronger competitor in the league. Fans are optimistic about the new roster combined with the established core that will aim to reclaim a prime position within the AFC East.

With Bradbury now joining a lineup of fresh faces, the Patriots are expected to challenge opponents with a new-look offense bolstered by an experienced offensive line. As the offseason continues, all eyes will be on the Patriots to see how their investments in new talent pay off on the field starting next season.
