Patos de Minas welcomed the New Year alongside significant shifts in local leadership as Luís Eduardo Falcão was sworn in for his second term as mayor. The solemn ceremony took place on January 1, 2025, at the Centro de Convenções e Eventos, marking both the start of Falcão’s leadership and the festive celebration of Réveillon.
Falcão's inauguration was presided over by Cabo Batista, the newly elected president of the city’s Chamber of Councilors, who performed the swearing-in of the mayor and vice-mayor Sandra Gomes. "The event was filled with local dignitaries, and we are all excited about what lies ahead for our community," said one attendee. The proceedings included the ceremonial reading of the term of office for both elected officials, emphasizing their commitments to Patos de Minas.
During the post-ceremony press conference, Falcão outlined his ambitious goals for the next term, which include the completion of the canalization of Avenida Fátima Porto, the construction of the new Unified Health Center where the old CSU was located, and the establishment of additional daycare centers. He stated, "I wish to conclude the canalization of Avenida Fátima Porto, construct the Unified Health Center, and complete the full-time school project in the Alto da Serra neighborhood." His vision reflects the continuing efforts to improve local infrastructure and services for residents.
That very same evening, the community also celebrated the New Year with the "Réveillon Viva 2025" event, showcasing the vibrant spirit of Patos de Minas. With the beautiful decorations setting the scene, including illuminated butterfly motifs enhancing the ambiance, attendees were instantly captivated as they entered the venue.
The event was family-friendly, allowing parents to relax as their children enjoyed activities at the specially designated Kids Space. Organizers ensured plenty of toys and comfortable resting areas, catering to the little ones. The revelry lasted until sunrise, reflecting the joy and community bonds formed during this festive occasion.
Raphael Oligo kicked off the celebration with high-energy entertainment, followed later by Caso a Parte, who brought the essence of pagode, marking the countdown to midnight. The countdown was met with joy as confetti rained down, hugs were exchanged, and the cheerful atmosphere illuminated the venue. "The audience danced from beginning to end!" stated another participant, reflecting the overall enthusiasm of the event.
Montana and Rafael from Goiânia maintained the momentum with lively performances, followed by DJ Andressa Alves, who ensured the celebration pulsed with rhythm and excitement. Just before dawn, Samba do Mercado entertained the virtually unyielding crowd, concluding the festivities as day began to break over Patos de Minas.
Both events—a change of leadership and the New Year celebration—symbolized the hopes and aspirations for the community, fostering goodwill and positive energy as they stepped boldly toward 2025. "The harmony and fun we experienced tonight are what's needed to bring positive energy for the year to come," concluded Falcão, echoing the sentiments of many celebrating the dual aspects of leadership and community togetherness.
