Paris Commuters Face Major Transport Disruptions This Week

Significant interruptions are expected across metro and RER lines as maintenance work begins.

As the Easter holidays come to a close, millions of residents in Paris and the Île-de-France region are gearing up to return to work and school on Monday, April 28, 2025. However, commuters should brace themselves for significant disruptions across public transport systems, including the metro, RER, and Transilien lines.

For the week leading up to May 4, 2025, various lines will experience interruptions due to ongoing construction and maintenance work. This could pose challenges for those relying on public transport to navigate the bustling city.

Starting with the metro, Line 9 will see all traffic halted on Sunday, May 4, due to modernization efforts. Commuters can expect replacement buses to be available during this interruption.

Meanwhile, Line 10 will face service interruptions from Monday, April 28, to Tuesday, April 29, starting at 10 PM. This is also due to essential maintenance work.

Line 14 will experience disruptions from Monday, April 28, to Tuesday, April 29, at 10 PM, specifically between Maison Blanche and Saint-Denis – Pleyel. Buses will run between Gare de Lyon and Olympiades to assist affected passengers.

As for the RER services, Line A will have traffic interrupted from April 28 until May 4, starting at 10:15 PM between Maisons-Laffitte and Poissy. Notably, on Thursday, May 1, the disruption will extend throughout the entire day. To accommodate commuters, Bus 1 service will be reinforced in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and additional buses will serve Achères – Ville. On the weekend of May 3 and 4, traffic will be affected until 4 PM on this same route.

RER Line B will also face interruptions from Monday, April 28, to Wednesday, April 30, beginning at 10:45 PM between Gare du Nord and Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 – TGV/Mitry – Claye. Following this, from Saturday, May 3, to Thursday, May 4, traffic will be interrupted between Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 – TGV and Aulnay-sous-Bois, with replacement buses available for passengers.

RER Line C will not serve the Issy stop from April 28 to April 30 due to security measures. Additionally, from 11:30 PM on these dates, traffic will be interrupted between Javel and Saint Quentin en Yvelines, as well as other sections of the line, including between Paris Austerlitz and Pont de Rungis. The last train from Paris Austerlitz to Pont de Rungis will leave at 10:27 PM.

RER Line D will see interruptions starting at 11:20 PM from Monday, April 28, to Wednesday, April 30, between Gare du Nord and Creil. This service disruption will continue until Friday, May 2, with trains not stopping at several stations during this period.

On RER Line E, service will be halted from April 28 to May 2 between Nanterre-La-Folie and Chelles – Gournay due to maintenance work. On the weekend of May 3 and 4, traffic will be interrupted on the entire line starting at 10:45 PM.

For Transilien services, Line H will be disrupted from April 28 to May 2, affecting travel between Paris Gare du Nord and Persan – Beaumont, with the last train leaving at 10:34 PM. Replacement buses will be in place to assist travelers.

Line J will have its service interrupted from April 28 to April 30, particularly between Gare Saint-Lazare and Mantes-la-Jolie via Poissy. On May 1 and 2, further disruptions will occur, with replacement buses available to facilitate travel.

On Line L, traffic will be interrupted from April 28 to May 2 between Bécon les Bruyères and Nanterre Université/Maisons-Laffitte, with replacement bus services provided. This line will also face interruptions from 9:55 PM on certain days.

Line N will see traffic halted from April 28 to April 29 between Dreux and Gare Montparnasse, with replacement buses available. Further disruptions will occur on the weekend of May 3 and 4.

Line P will be affected on the weekend of May 3 and 4, with traffic interrupted between Paris-Est and Château-Thierry due to ongoing works. Replacement buses will be provided during these interruptions.

Finally, the tram services will also be impacted, particularly Tramway T2, which will experience interruptions between Porte de Versailles and Suzanne Lenglen from April 28 to May 4 due to major modernization work.

As commuters navigate these disruptions, they are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time for travel. Public transport authorities are working diligently to minimize the impact of these necessary works, ensuring that the transport network remains safe and efficient for all users.
