With the Dallas Wings winning the first overall pick at the 2025 WNBA Draft Lottery, Bueckers is anticipated to be their top selection. The Wings, who only won nine games last year, are looking to retool and make a significant impact in the league.

“We know what No. 1 draft picks can do to this league, how they've impacted other franchises,” said Dallas Wings general manager Curt Miller. “It's a truly, truly exciting time to have the No. 1 pick.”

Paige Bueckers, a standout at the University of Connecticut, capped her college career with a national championship, leading the Huskies to their first title in nearly a decade with a dominant 82-59 victory over South Carolina. Bueckers scored 17 points and added six rebounds in the championship game. “It's been a story of resilience, of gratitude, of adversity, of overcoming adversity, just responding to life's challenges,” Bueckers told reporters after the game.

But Bueckers isn’t the only player generating buzz ahead of the draft. Kiki Iriafen from USC and Sonia Citron from Notre Dame are also high on the draft boards. Iriafen is noted for her agility, rebounding instincts, and scoring ability, while Citron has been a key player for the Fighting Irish.

As the draft approaches, excitement builds around not only Bueckers but also the potential impact of other top prospects like Iriafen and Citron. The Washington Mystics, who have struggled in recent seasons, hold the No. 3 and No. 4 picks and are expected to make significant moves to improve their roster.

“This draft class is strong, and Citron and Iriafen are fantastic players if available,” said an analyst. “If the Mystics can, drafting Shyanne Sellers at No. 6 would be a steal.”

The Seattle Storm, who finished last season with a solid 25-15 record, have the second pick in the draft thanks to a four-team trade, and they are looking to bolster their lineup as well.

As the WNBA prepares for this pivotal moment in its history, the anticipation for the draft continues to grow. With Bueckers leading the charge, the future of the league looks bright, and fans are eager to see how the selections unfold.

With the Dallas Wings on the clock, the stage is set for an exciting evening of basketball, showcasing the next generation of talent ready to make their mark in the WNBA. Tune in to ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET to catch all the action live!
