Pablo Alborán Launches Bold New Single Clickbait

The singer addresses fame and social media in his latest release, marking a new era in his career.

Pablo Alborán, the celebrated Spanish singer-songwriter, is back with a bold new single titled "CLICKBAIT," released on March 26, 2025. This track marks the beginning of a new musical era for Alborán, who is known for his heartfelt ballads but is now venturing into more experimental territory. With its electronic-infused production and incisive lyrics, "CLICKBAIT" addresses the pervasive issues of fake news, social media obsession, and the superficiality surrounding fame.

In a recent interview with Billboard Español, Alborán described the past few months as one of the most emotionally intense periods of his life, leading him to rethink many aspects of his music. "It’s been a year full of emotions, without a clear path," he said. "But that’s exactly why I gave myself permission to explore, experiment with sounds, and, most importantly, have fun." This exploration is evident in "CLICKBAIT," which Alborán has described as one of the most striking songs of his career.

"I’ve never spoken so openly about fame, envy, prejudice, and the obsession with likes," Alborán explained. The song serves as both a shield and a sword for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the negativity prevalent in today's media landscape. He aims to create a space for listeners to vent their frustrations and feel understood, particularly those tired of the judgments and labels that often accompany fame.

The music video for "CLICKBAIT," directed by La Carbonera Studio and filmed in Madrid, reinforces the song's critique of the image-obsessed world. Within the video, Alborán interacts with a mirror while dancers representing various figures in the industry—like paparazzi, executives, and influencers—attempt to distract him from his reflection. This metaphor illustrates the various pressures that surround fame and the constant scrutiny that comes with it.

In the song, Alborán candidly reflects on the emptiness fame can bring and the addiction to social media that many individuals face. He sings, "Many say they know me / But they have no idea who I am / Flash, flash, so much clickbait / So much fake / Too much patience I give them." These lines encapsulate the frustration of being misunderstood and the superficial connections often formed in the digital age.

Alborán's lyrics delve deeper into themes of envy and the societal tendency to prioritize appearances over genuine happiness. He critiques the current state of social media, where superficial interactions can overshadow authentic connections. "People have gone crazy / They think they’re psychologists / And I like it when people smile / It doesn’t bother me, nor do I ask their reasons," he states, emphasizing the need for empathy in a world often driven by jealousy.

"CLICKBAIT" is not just a critique of the media and social dynamics; it is also a personal reflection for Alborán. He considers it the most intimate song of his career, dedicated to those who want to shout out against prejudice and bitterness. "This song is dedicated to people who want to know you beyond what they think they know about you. It’s something everyone experiences, not just artists or famous people," he shared. Alborán hopes that many will identify with the song's message and enjoy singing along with him.

Musically, Alborán has collaborated with renowned producer Albert Hype, known for his work with major artists like Bad Bunny and Kali Uchis. This partnership has allowed him to experiment with new sounds and create a more exciting and profound repertoire. Alborán is stepping out of his comfort zone, blending various genres and influences to craft a unique sound that resonates with both old and new fans.

As he embarks on this new chapter, Alborán is also gearing up for an extensive world tour set to kick off in February 2026. This tour will span Latin America, the United States, and Spain, allowing him to connect with audiences on a personal level. "This tour is very special to me," he said. "Not only because it will be global, but because this album allows me to experiment on stage. I’ll be taking audiences through all the stages of my life, from my roots in Málaga to the present."

His upcoming seventh studio album, which is due out in November 2025 via Warner Music Spain, will further explore these themes and showcase a diverse range of sounds, from country to flamenco bulerías. Alborán has promised that this album will be a window into how he sees the world, free of labels and prejudices, inviting listeners into his bubble of creativity.

On February 28, 2025, Alborán was awarded the Medalla de las Artes by the Junta de Andalucía, recognizing his contributions to Spanish music and his career achievements. This accolade reflects not only his talent but also his impact on the music scene.

In addition to his music career, Alborán is set to make his acting debut in the Spanish Netflix series "Respira," where he will play an emergency plastic surgeon in its second season. "Acting has always intrigued me, but I had never taken the leap. When I was offered the role, my family couldn’t believe it. ‘Are you sure?’ they asked," he recalled with a laugh. To prepare for this role, he spent months studying and even attended real surgeries to gain a better understanding of the character.

As Alborán continues to navigate the complexities of fame, social media, and personal growth, he remains committed to authenticity in his art. "I don’t want to be boxed in," he stated, emphasizing his desire to explore various musical avenues without being constrained by expectations. With "CLICKBAIT," he invites listeners to join him on this journey of self-discovery and artistic expression.
