Pabianice, Poland – Pizzeria Zielona Górka has been awarded as the best Neapolitan pizzeria in the world, according to the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), marking a significant milestone for local cuisine.
This honor was announced after a vote involving about 1,100 members of AVPN from over 50 different countries. The recognition not only highlights the excellence of the Pabianice establishment but also promotes the town itself and Poland at large.
"I never expected such recognition. This is not only great for my restaurant, which I run with my wife, but it’s also huge for Pabianice and for the whole country," Jędrzej Lewandowski, the owner of Zielona Górka, expressed joyfully. His restaurant has become increasingly popular, having appeared three times in the Top 50 Pizza World rankings, garnering attention from both domestic and international visitors.
Lewandowski emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses, noting, "It is important to look at every success of Polish companies both at home and abroad." His pizzeria employs 20 people and maintains steady relationships with local suppliers, emphasizing his commitment to the community.
This prestigious recognition is only the second time since the AVPN was founded, which originates from Naples—a city synonymous with the classic pizza style—that someone outside Naples has won this honor, with the previous winner being from São Paulo, Brazil.
AVPN has long stood as the guardians of the authentic Neapolitan pizza, which is recognized by UNESCO as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This accolade not only celebrates culinary craftsmanship but also elevates the global standing of Polish cuisine.
