Ithaca, NY – A sweeping recall affecting over 75,000 bottles of International Delight coffee creamer has been issued after reports of spoilage and illness among consumers. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on March 12, 2025, the classification of this recall as Class II, indicating the products may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
The recall stems from initial reports received on February 21, 2025, when International Delight’s parent company, Danone North America, became aware of spoilage issues leading to user complaints. "The firm received complaints of spoilage and illness with the use of the products," stated the FDA report.
This recall impacts two flavors of creamer: Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll and Hazelnut, both sold in 32-fluid-ounce bottles. The Cinnabon creamer, bearing UPC code 0 41271 01993 3, is marked with a best-by date of July 3, 2025, and includes 46,482 bottles. Meanwhile, the Hazelnut variant, with UPC code 0 41271 02565 2, has 28,572 bottles, and is marked for consumption until July 2, 2025.
These products, distributed by Danone Wave, were sold to consumers across 31 states including New York, Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania among others. Among the states receiving these products are Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, and many more.
International Delight responded to the matter by acknowledging customers' concerns, stating, "A limited number of these products did not meet our quality standards, due to premature spoilage manifesting as a texture issue. While we know this is disappointing for our creamer fans, testing data has confirmed this is not a food safety issue. We chose to voluntarily recall these isolated products out of an abundance of caution... this is not the quality we strive for."
With the potential for health concerns, consumers who purchased these coffee creamers are urged to immediately stop using them. International Delight advises individuals to either throw away the recalled creamer or return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. Customers are also reminded to carefully check their products against the recall details—specifically the UPC codes and the best-by dates—to determine if they have purchased one of the affected items.
If symptoms of illness manifest after using these creamers, consumers should seek guidance from their healthcare providers. The FDA's Class II designation signifies the products are not likely to cause serious health issues but still warrant serious consumer attention.
Overall, this incident raises important reminders about food safety and consumer diligence. Shoppers are encouraged to stay informed about product recalls and to heed warnings from health authorities. Keeping abreast of such information can help prevent potential health issues related to spoiled food products.
