In a significant crackdown on road safety, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) has reported that over 700 driving licenses were confiscated during a series of night raids conducted by traffic police on March 23, 2025. These actions were prompted by multiple violations that posed a substantial danger to other road users.
According to the MAI, a total of 68 drivers were sanctioned for operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol, while 25 faced penalties for driving under the influence of prohibited substances. In addition, the police apprehended 14 individuals for driving without a proper license and identified 481 cases involving unsafe vehicles on the roads.
During the same 24-hour period, MAI's operational teams arrested over 200 individuals engaged in various criminal activities. These figures highlight a growing concern about road safety and law enforcement's commitment to addressing it.
