Oppo Launches Find X8 Ultra With Advanced Camera Features

The flagship smartphone offers impressive specs and photography capabilities, but remains exclusive to China for now.

Oppo has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Find X8 Ultra, at an event in China, marking a significant advancement in its X-series lineup. This new device aims to refine the features that made its predecessor, the Find X7 Ultra, popular while introducing several enhancements that set it apart in the competitive smartphone market.

The Find X8 Ultra boasts a stunning 6.82-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 1-120Hz LTPO, offering a resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels. This display is protected by OPPO's Crystal Shield and features ultra-narrow bezels measuring just 1.4mm. With a peak brightness of 1,600 nits and support for Dolby Vision, the screen promises vibrant colors and excellent visibility even in bright conditions.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. This impressive hardware is complemented by a large VC cooling system and a double-layer 2000W/(m·K) ultra-high performance graphite, ensuring optimal performance during intensive tasks.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the Find X8 Ultra's advanced camera system, which features a five-camera setup. The primary camera includes a 50MP 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor, renowned for its ability to capture stunning detail and color accuracy. Additionally, the device includes a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and another 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 6x optical zoom. The setup is further enhanced by a 2MP spectral color sensor that aids in pixel-level color recognition and analysis, allowing for stunningly vivid images.

Oppo has also integrated its new LUMO imaging system, which works alongside a Hasselblad partnership to deliver exceptional portrait capabilities. The camera supports 4K video recording at 60 frames per second with Dolby Vision across all focal lengths, as well as 4K video at 120 frames per second with 1-10X zoom capabilities. This makes it a versatile tool for videographers and content creators alike.

In terms of battery life, the Find X8 Ultra is equipped with a robust 6100mAh battery, supporting 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, along with a 10W reverse wireless charging feature. This ensures that users can quickly recharge their devices and keep them powered throughout the day.

Moreover, the phone is designed to withstand the elements, boasting both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. This durability is complemented by an SGS five-star drop resistance certification, making it a reliable option for users who lead active lifestyles.

Oppo's new flagship is available in three elegant colors: Starry Black, Moonlight White, and Morning Light. Pricing for the Find X8 Ultra starts at CNY 6,499 (approximately USD 884) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, while the 16GB RAM + 512GB storage model is priced at CNY 6,999 (approximately USD 952). The top-tier 16GB RAM + 1TB storage version, which supports satellite communication, retails for CNY 7,999 (approximately USD 1,088).

The Find X8 Ultra is set to go on sale in China starting April 16, 2025. However, it is important to note that there are currently no plans for an international release, which has raised concerns among potential buyers outside of China who are eager to experience the latest technology from Oppo.

In summary, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra represents a significant leap forward in smartphone technology, particularly in terms of its camera system and overall performance. With its sleek design, powerful specs, and advanced features, it positions itself as a formidable competitor in the high-end smartphone market.
